We’ve been traveling to Sunshine Beach for many years for family holidays and have never had an issue with the usual apartments we stay in. This time we decided to try the Sunseeker lodge apartments with the view of booming annually with a number of our friends up each year.
We were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment (as were other family members in other apartments there at the same time). The curtains in the main bedroom were covered in mould, the room had a smell like wet dog and under the bed it was thick with dust and dirt (see attached photo). The little outside courtyard looked like it needed a good clean, leaves everywhere. The fridge shelves were dirty, the oven needed a good clean, the kids room also had dirt all over the floor under the beds. The Venetian blinds were thick with dust as were the runners for the doors and windows. Walls were covered in marks.
I’m addition to this one of the tv remotes didn’t have batteries and the main bedroom light didn’t work.
On checkout I politely mentioned to the lady on reception our concerns. Her reply “this time of the year the cleaners are very busy and so can only do a surface clean”. In my opinion this is a very poor reply from a customer service perspective as we have paid good money, and probably more costly rates than other times of the year, yet we are not entitled to a clean apartment? It feels like the place needs a good caretaker that checks on each apartment regularly for cleanliness and to see that all things are functioning correctly, so guests don’t have to be the ones finding these things on arrival.
We were very disappointed, as the apartments have great potential - they are spacious with a beautiful view of the water and grass for the kids to play on, but we have made the decision that we will not be returning to Sunseeker Lodge.
