We arrived here for 5 days at the end of our stay in Australia and it couldn't have ended any better. We loved the two bedrooms and spacious layout, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher all the home comforts, including all the washing liquids etc. Tea, coffee, fridge freezer, could have lived there! After 10 days in a motorhome this was all very welcome!
The reception staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, helping us with a couple of trips we had booked.
We used the pool one afternoon and was lovely for a refreshing dip.
Port Douglas itself is lovely we really enjoyed it, although it was very quiet when we were there as it was the onset of the Corona virus.
Would love to go back one day.
Thankyou Bay Villas!
Bay Villas Resort Port Douglas located on the main road into Port Douglas. Conveniently located to town centre shops bars and restaurants as well as a short walk to the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable serviced weekly some have balcony's but no views and limited privacy. There is a pool and guest laundry.
We’re cairns locals, so we stay in port Douglas more than 5 times a year. This is not a good choice for accommodation. For the same price you can stay on the Main Street (Try Villa San Michele as one example of a similarly priced spot).
The day we stayed there, something disgusting was in the pool.. looked like a mould - a whole lot of green / sludgy looking stuff floating everywhere. The manager on duty closed the pool and reopened it the next day. The pools look much sadder in person than in those photos.
The rooms are basic, and you’ll need to close all the blinds to have any privacy - very close buildings looking in everywhere. It’s a solid 8 to 10 min walk to the main st. In the heat, particularly summer and if you have kids, you don’t want g to be doing this. And again, you can get a place in the same quality range or better for less on the street. I would not recommend this place.
These apartments are located well with a ten minute walk into town. The 1 bedroom apartment is spacious, clean and tidy but a bit dated and in need of some painting. Priced well. Furnishings - lounge and dining- aren't that comfortable to sit on.
1 bathroom off bedroom in good condition with a large shower and laundry. Full, small kitchen with dishwasher. Air con in lounge and bedroom and o/h fans all good.
Small pool available for patrons which is maintained well.
Smoking from other patrons permeates the apartment at times, which is very unfortunate for non smokers. Noise level is good. Car parking available at no extra charge but parking spaces are very tight. Don't bring a large vehicle.
Reception is closed at 6pm. After hours contact number is not easy to locate and needs to be more prominent. Overall, a good place to stay, well priced but far from Wow, if that's what you're after.
Port Douglas is a stunning location - with access to the Great Barrier Reef, Mossman Gorge, The Daintree and Cape Tribulation to name a few of the wonders you can visit. There are lots of options for tours available, depending on your individual needs.
The night life in town is pumping and fun, with live music everywhere and a great variety of restaurants, cafes and shops. We have loved our holiday in Port Douglas and would definitely look at returning.
We enjoyed a couple of days there last weekend, we had a three bedroom apartment, which was nice, it had everything we needed to make a couple of meals, heated pool was a good temp, as a couple of our friends were in their early 70's it would have been nice to have had a lift, three flights of stairs with luggage was an effort, also the Wifi could use a boost, in this day and age we should have access to fast Wifi. Other than that, it was a nice stay
