This place was recommended to us by some fellow motorcycle overlanders and we were not disappointed, if anything it was even better than described.

We were greeted by a young white chap who was absolutely friendly and professional, he took the time to show us around all the rooms that were available and point out the features of each. We selected a twin room with shared bathroom, but since we were the only people there (wet season) we had the place to ourselves.

The room was terrific, comfortable beds (even with the concrete base it was soft enough), air conditioned and some storage space.
The bathroom is huge and self contained with a large bench, toilet and shower, you lock the door and have it all to yourself. Plenty of hot water.

Lovely swimming pool, the best and cleanest I've seen in Southern Africa.
Stylish bar and comfortable seating area, very friendly staff.
The whole location is stunning, beautifully tended gardens and the river frontage runs right along the bar and pool. Hippos lounge and grunt in the water all day and roam around at night.
There are lots of wild Hippos, Elephant, Monkeys and Baboons that you need to be aware of (don't approach them or leave any food in sight).

On the first night, our air conditioner developed a fault. In the morning we told the manager and after checking it out and deciding it couldn't be fixed right away, he gave us the adjacent room and told us we could also keep the first room to save us moving all of our gear - that is a rare level of hospitality and all handled in a no fuss manner!

We took a game drive while there and enjoyed it too, organised through Croc Valley I can recommend it.

This would be a marvellous place to spend a few days or even longer.

Looking for good value for money? Look no further, because Croc Valley is the place to go. With a wide choice of accomodations ranging from a campground to massive tents, a nice swimming pool, excellent bar and staf who is attentive and polite, there is nothing much to miss. We do reccomend the full board option, provided excellent value with 2 safari’s per day and voluminous meals. Herbert, the manager, is a delight and can help you with anything.

i booked that place because the price is right and it looked good on pictures and lonely planet gave it a good review. I usually understand their views. I read some bad reviews so i was ready to maybe get a dirty pool, bad service, bad food and a noisy place. None of those happened. the pool was perfectly clean and pretty. the service was great, i loved their cheese burger, tuna melt and breakies. However , their is a town nearby which make noise until about 11 pm. in the camping area, if the campers are noisy then it is noisy. The hippos are loud but i came for that. the monkeys are the locals and so are the elephants . which is awesome. i stayed in the small tent with are comfortable and very very cheap. however if you feel you'd like intimacy with less noisy campers then their bigger tent or chalet looked stellar. The guides were very knowledgeable and very nice . I saw all the carnivores everyday i went. as well as elephants , all sort of birds, giraffes and of course hippos and those zebras. i took the full board twice which had good food and was very nice . The place is a budget place so dont expect the liz taylor lodge in okavengo. it is cheap, authentic , simple and efficient. The park is 25$ each day which can be very expensive added to the drive and many days.

Response from CrocValley, Public Relations Manager at Croc Valley Camp
Responded 25 Jun 2017
Dear bernardinic2017, Thank you very much for your great review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We have stepped up a lot throughout the last year with a new Swimming Pool, renovated facilities and a new Kitchen Manager, who joined our Team in February. We have taken negative reviews very seriously and addressed all these issues to improve the service quality for our guests. I do agree that Mfuwe Village can get very noisy sometimes, especially during weekends. There are actually regulations which state that no music should be played after 10:30, unfortunately the village does not always stick to these rules (But we will stay tuned to the topic) We are glad to hear that you had a great wildlife experience in South Luangwa! We wish you all the best and hope to welcome you back in the future Your Croc Valley Team

Camped in Croc Valley camp for two nights in October & absolutely loved it! Not only could I hear the sounds of hippos and elephants munching away at night, but watching the sunrise in the morning was made extra special with a view of a herd of elephants making their way to a watering hole right beside the camp (a few hundred meters). Facilities were good and there was a lot of space around the campsite, plus a bar, pool, and hammocks. Loved that there was free wifi (a rarity while camping around Sthn Africa).

The staff were absolutely wonderful, and Herbert in particular was so helpful and friendly, especially when it came to organising game drives.

This was a great location from which to begin a game drive, with the South Luangwa NP being one of, if not the best I have seen so far (I especially loved the dawn safari).

All in all, loved it & I would highly recommend Croc Valley for a memorable camping experience.

Simply superb service, staff and facilities, on a beautiful shady site overlooking the mighty Luangwa. Lovely clean swimming pool, atmospheric bar, and everything from ablutions, to campsites and communal areas clean and fully functional (which in itself is somewhat of a rarity on most Central African campsites). Overlanders kept separate from other campers, which is wonderful (for us "other campers"!)
