It is not very often that you can walk in to a hotel in an area away from a major city in a foreign country and find that the hotel staff speak perfect English.
I arrived just after 21:00 and after a little difficulty finding a space in the crowded shared car park, I was greeted with a beamng smile and polite hello. The very nice guy behind the desk was very capable of speaking English for my distinct lack of German; where check-in was completed in not time and without any issue.
I initially took the lift to the second floor but used the wide easy stairs thereafter.
After leaving my bags in the room, I went stright down to the restaurant for some food since it was so late in the evening. The very nice server was either observant that I was reading an English document or had been advised by her colleagues, but I was well greeted in English and shown to a table in the pretty, quite restaurant.
With a beer ordered and English menus delivered I opted for the spice marinated Grilled Prime Rib, served with barbecue sauce, coleslaw and a mountain of sweet potato fries.
Prior to the meal arriving, the server brought out a small plate of Monkfish Carpacio, which although I had never had it before was well served and beautifully tasty.
There was so much I just could not eat it all.
The breakfast the next morning was just as good. Well presented with a good range of continental and hot foods with fresh juices and coffe in good supply.
The hotel was clean and well decorated with a spacious lobby and bar area with a large roomy restaurant.
Definitley worth a visit if you are in the area, if not for the food alone.
This is a nice little hotel with a nice lake and walking area around it. Breakfast was very good, the rooms were adequate and clean but the best part is their staff. Kevin at the front desk for example is so friendly and helped us with several requests. The cleaning lady realized that I had forgotten my cap in the room and she left it along with my bags in the storage area. These are just some of the examples but overall starting from manager downwards, everyone was very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
Spent two nights here on a 'double room for single person' basis. The room was a decent size and the bathroom facilities were ok, although it had gel rather than proper soap.
The service from reception staff and others was very good. Breakfast had a wide choice and the evening food at the restaurant was good as well but a bit pricey.
It was a very quiet time for the hotel and the bar was deserted for most of the time on a Friday night.
Overall it was a good stay with nothing major wrong, but the cost of staying was expensive compared to other hotels in Stade.
I stayed here one night last week on a business trip. The Receptionist's welcome on arrival was very helpful and friendly. The first impression was of a warm and cozy but upmarket hotel, which it proved to be. The bar area greets you as you enter the hotel and it looks like a very pleasant place to spend an evening with, I think, piano music playing at some stage in the evening, though I went out to dinner and did not hear it.
The 'luxury' feel continues to the rooms, though my only negative is that my single room was too small to feel comfortable and it had a coffee table and armchair that crowded the floor space. The narrow bed resembled a ship's bunk in size. My pillow was far too soft to be comfortable. It may be that options are available on request but I arrived too late after dinner to think about it. The small shower room/toilet was well-designed and equipped with essentials. The rain shower was efficient.
Breakfast buffet-style in the dining room was international in its offerings. Everything that I had was good quality and taste. Checkout was fast and efficient.
Booked specific room directly with hotel manager 2 month prior. He suggested a certain room, so followed his suggestion. Upon arrival room was occupied. Room they gave me instead was terribly cold, never reached proper temperature. Not what I wanted at all. Next day spoke to manager and only heard excuses. Had looked forward to this visit to beautiful Stade so much. Never will go back to this hotel. Poor management, no service focus. Not recommendable.
