The Park Hyatt Vienna is located inside a former bank Palais within the borders of Vienna's Inner City and surrounded by luxurious boutiques. Most major places of interest for tourists can be reached on foot in few minutes and most underground as well as an abundance of tram lines are available in closest proximity. Nonetheless, the historic square the hotel faces is very calm, which adds to the building's exceptional charm.
Speaking of the building: The palace-like premise is decorated in a unique Art Deco style and even if you do not choose the Park Hyatt as an accommodation, you should absolutely have dinner in the probably most extraordinary dining room we have ever witnessed.
But even the most delightful environment, a huge and most beautifully decorated room or the most professional and friendly welcome by guest experience employee Claudia were not able to distract us from the milk-like coloured water from the sink, which had us refrain from drinking tab water at the hotel. This was a shame due to the normally extremely high water quality in Austria. Furthermore, the air conditioner did not work at all and our room was extremely hot, which was very unpleasant on a hot summer day.
After having placed our complaint at the front desk, no technician had been able to fix the situation and only after a personal check, Concierge Karim, who supported us in the friendliest and most diligent way imaginable, took matter into his own hands and upgraded us to an amazing Suite facing the town square. The bed was perfectly comfortable, the marble bathroom left no desire dissatisfied and the most spacious and pleasant rain shower added to an extraordinary vibe of luxury. Finally, the air conditioner worked all fine, but already in the next morning it broke down, alongside one of the curtain controls and the "Do not disturb" function. What an annoying start into the new day!
We were lucky though, Claudia was shocked to hear about our most recent encounter with technical malfunctions. She personally made sure that all errors were taken care of on the same morning and she even sent a chilled bottle of Bollinger Champagne to our room, which made us forget anything we may had disliked earlier.
Another wonderful add-on was the breakfast, which is for sure one of the best we have ever had: From local egg specialties to the freshest and juiciest fruit salad one can imagine the a la carte selection left no wish unfulfilled. Furthermore, the coffee, the sparkling wine and especially the breakfast location and service were outstanding. Our special thanks to Adriana who spoiled us with her service from heart, which will remain unforgotten despite the impression that she and her colleagues were understaffed at times.
Another aspect we would like to mention is the very effective housekeeping team: our room was always perfectly clean and also the turn-down service worked perfectly - even despite the currently difficult business environment.
Upon check-out the team even removed 50 percent of one room rate from our invoice to make us forget our bumpy start. We must state that in total, there would have been no better or more extreme ways to deal with our early dissatisfactions than those chosen by the hotel to make up. Thanks to Claudia, Karim, Adriana and their colleagues we will remember the Park Hyatt as one of our top hotel experiences worldwide.
