Verona jazz

A little late to write my review , just for the lack of time ..

My trip to verona last August was amazing , the city is so beautiful and romantic , but the perfect location and Accomodation to enjoy every corner of the city was verona jazz. What an magic place !

The palazzo is a jewel of the city, old , full of carácter , and located just steps away from the arena ( for all the opera lovers ) ; as for me this B.B. was mostly a home in Italy where Stephano the propietario and Sarah the care taker were my friends and family during my 1 month stay . Fun place , beautiful clean room with private bathroom and a amazing terrace to enjoy city views and fantastic morning sunshine.

Having the cafe downstairs was great ; open for any meals ; wonderful coffee and summer apperitivos Italy is beautiful, verona is a dream and verona jazz is the place where you make your Italian dream a true story .

I can’t wait to come back ! Natalia

I having visited many, many B+B's over the past 30 years all over Europe and the US. $ 125.00 a night is not inexpensive (city tax is extra) and I have come to expect a certain standard of quality which the price should reflect. Please let me start by saying that I had not intended to stay here, but there was a mix-up with the original reservation (at another B+B which I had loved!)

We got lost on the way into the city – finding the way into the inner city with a car is complex and the outside of the B + B is not marked at all. From the get go, I felt that the owner's priority was making money and he acted as if he was doing us some kind of favor in letting me come into his house. He emphasized several times that it was his "house," which made us very uncomfortable as it seemed like a warning. Vibe was very inhospitable.

The room and bathroom were both really beautiful. However, the light next to our bed did not work when he tried to switch it on and he could not bother to get another light bulb. Instead he said he would do it the next day and did not. Location was good, although all the accommodations in the old city have good locations – it is a small city.

Although Jazz B+B advertised air conditioning, and there was a unit, it did not effectively cool the room down more than a couple of degrees. It was hot as hades. There was a fan, but it was still pretty miserable.

There was no Wi-Fi, also advertised. He told us it was weak in our room because of the old, thick walls (which a booster would fix) but OK in the living room. It did not work anywhere in the living room for more than a minute - and was so frustrating that we gave up.

The second "B" in B + B stands for breakfast, and I usually look forward to waking up to the breakfasts in Italy. However, I was horrified the next morning by finding an empty place in which "breakfast" was set out. A "breakfast" in which every item was wrapped up in cellophane and purchased in bulk, at what must be the Italian equivalent of Walmart or Sam's. Awful "croissants," disgusting "pastries," and other wrapped up stuff that I would literally not let my dog eat, never mind my children or myself. There was NOTHING fresh – NOTHING that was not in plastic - not one piece of fresh fruit, not one roll or even loaf of bread. (To my dismay, I realized that it was this place I had read about in reviews and made a mental note to avoid.)

Although the owner joked the night before that he did not "cook," I believe he is too cheap to spend the money to hire someone (as he obviously does not want to do it) to go to the bakery and come in the morning to lay out a decent breakfast. If you like eating out of vending machines in rest stops, this B + B is for you! There was an automatic coffee machine, too bad if you wanted anything other than espresso. We were essentially trapped as reservations were tight – and we would have had to spend the day packing up and moving - otherwise I would have left.

After "breakfast," we went back to our room and the house cleaning person started knocking at our door wanting to know when we were leaving as she was there at 10:00 on the dot. About 10 minutes later, she knocked again and made it clear that if we didn't leave she wouldn't clean. When we left she was sitting outside the room tapping her foot and grimacing. Very rude. This was repeated the next day. Talk about not being relaxing and being made to feel that you are imposing.

However, presto, when it came time to pay, Stefano was there in the morning waiting!. Maybe all this would have been fine for 50 or 75 E, but 130???? We should have gone to the Best Western Hotel Armando which was the same price. (Our traveling companions stayed there and raved about the hospitality and the breakfast buffet.) During this 3-week trip, this was the only B + B we stayed at that was such a bad experience.

MyWife and I and two friends from Australia booked rooms here 2015. We really enjoyed our stay - comfortable, clean rooms, great location and a lovely roof terrace.
Stefan - our host - was great company but also unobtrusive. We loved his music room!

Would definitely stay here again

This is a very authentic Italian home- we had a large double room with an upstairs suite and a huge and very modern bathroom. Stefano also collected us from the airport which was extremely kind. The rooftop terrace is wonderful- you can see the top of the Arena and the preparations for the Opera. The breakfasts aren't spectacular- there could be fresh fruit juice available as well as natural yoghurt, but there are lots of pastries and great coffee. Thanks, Stefano for sharing your beautiful home- we would certainly stay with you again. Also- our room had a lock on the door. The wifi only works in the main reception area- not in the rooms, in case that may bother you. Rooms are refreshed every day.

Stefano gave us the Large Master bedroom with a large bathroom and upstairs sitting room. This private suite is the largest of the five suites and has a view of the ancient Roman wall. One feels like a privileged guest in a large villa. Piano room, large living room, kitchen dining room, etc. the open air deck was great for breakfast and has a partial view of Verona. Breakfast was self-serve but easy to make caffe lattes. Yogurt, juice, cereal and sweets were typical eurocontinental. Daily friendly maid service. The air-conditioning was quiet and effective and necessary. . Parking was a challenge on the streets so we used Parking L'Arena. This B&B is located inside the Roman walls and is an easy walking location to every point in city. Get up early and tour the city because once the tour buses arrive at about 10am, it becomes noisy and difficult to get around, especially Guilietta's balcony. Get out of the tourist zone if you want authentic italian food.
