Arrival: We arrived very late and had to collect keys from Buenavista which is a good 15 minute walk away with cases. Some of the transfer companies do not know this and will drop you near the Don Gregorio which is a pain, remember you will need all passports to check in at Buenavista. Also £50 Euro deposit per person which is common here.
Room: Is basic but reasonably well equipped for self catering. Microwave had grill, there was toaster and pots and pans for basic food prep. Drying room with airer, balcony and very small but functional bathroom - lots of hot water. Unfortunately the maid did not realise there were 3 of us so I had to rough the first night with no bedding on the settee. This was quickly remedied in the morning. Only one set of Bedding and towels a week, this is changed if you stay over. No Aircon open the window.
Building: good location, you can walk everywhere if fit. Quite near Benidorm Palace which is a brilliant night out. Loads of shops and supermarkets, some open late if you required. Good indoor market just down the road. 10 minutes from the beach. 2 lifts, small but clean pool and enough loungers. Pool area has sun most of the day in May.
Supplies: Good supermarket 1 minute away up the slope. Tobacconists 5 minutes away down to the main road.
Eating out: If you are cautious with you food you will have no problems eating locally. There is a lot of cometition if you like a full english breakfast which can be bought for around £2 euros in some places. If you want to go a bit posh or more spanish you should walk aloing the beach to the Old Town where there are many retaurants. Decent Tapas bars and Steak / Fish dishes. Although drinks are more pricey in the Old Town, the food prices are similar wherever you eat for comparable dishes.
Beach: is amazing.... Bikini Bar is great to chill with decent food a little more pricey but you pay for the location.
Weather was great in second half of May - if a bit breezy.
Problems: The apartments only have a part time receptionist, so if like us you have the guests from hell above you there is no-one to sort it out. We suffered 4/5 nights of no sleep over the course of the break. We may have been particularly unlucky as they do not take group booking or parties but the reception guy and other guests were laughed at when asked to keep it down.
Checking out: you need to be out of the room by 10am which is an issue if your flight is not until 11pm. The rooms are quite cheap so you can book an extra night which is well worth it. Do not bank on a late checkout being available. Deposit was returned no problem. I think you can pay it is Sterling which means you don't have to change the Euro's back.
Would have given it 4 stars if not for the noise problem. It only cost £620 for 3 staying 10 days with flights and transfers from Bristol. Although it might be better to book for a short stay.
