The hotel resembles the hotels in London - being a part of a large residential block in a very luxury district in Hamburg. White 4-storey building with very large windows in a very quiet location again largely resembles such London areas as St John's Wood or Maida Vale.
The decor refers to the old times, the room (a double room in my case) was good size, and can be heated very quickly. Unexpectedly - very good shampoo and body lotion in the standard amenities set. Sound insulation and heavy non-transparent curtains provided a really good-night sleep.
The breakfast is very nice - large and very good quality variety of breads, pastries, fruits, cheese. Really - the breakfast is what a breakfast much be.
Excellent location - close to 2 tube stations (3-4 minutes walk), 20-25 minutes to the airport (from Klosternetz), 10-15 minutes to the city centre (from Eppendorf Baum), 7 minutes walk to Alster, 2 definitely must-visit restaurants in 2 minutes walk.
My only discomfort was a non-stable Internet connection at all times.
Will stay again while in Hamburg!
I have read that the rooms are small, but we lucked out and had a very spacious room with a large comfortable bed. I think the hotel has a great charm, and the breakfast experience was very cozy. Small dining area and good quality food. The neighbourhood is also great! Would visit again!
This hotel is in a nice luxury area of Hamburg and fits its surroundings. It has a classic style. looks nice and has friendly staff. The room was large, warm and had some extras like a radio. The bathroom only had a shower. I didn't have breakfast as I ate too much the night before. Easy to reach by S- and U-bahn from airport but you need to change twice (ticket costs 3.2€).
So the hotel itself is a very old with old-style elevator and old-fashioned room. It seemed that some time ago it was a very cool luxurious hotel but not it's just more outdated than fancy. The elevator is not modern and not convenient as you have to open the doors by yourself so if you carry something, this is not best comfort.
My room was 2 separate rooms - living room and bedroom. It was not cozy rather cold.
But the breakfast was very nice. Passion fruit, blueberries, watermelon, different cheeses, salmon, also some English breakfast attributes - beans, sausages, scrambled eggs. Very fresh, big and crunchy croissants, some sweets, a variety of musli, etc. Nice. Poor internet connection.
Charming hotel in the middle of Eppendorf which is a beautiful central district with a mixture of individual shops, cafes, restaurants and fantastic houses. The hotel is carefully restored, but has kept some of the charm of the 50ies. Our room was small, but had perfect bed, bathroom, very quite. Staff is friendly and very helpful. There are 2 stops of the tube nearby. You have to drink a cocktail in the bar which is elegant and cozy. Definitely a place to return to.
