I requested a corner room and received one with shower/bath combination. The room was acceptable. A bit small, but clean and appeared to have modern furnishings. I was unhappy with the Philips television. I liked that there was at least one channel that showed movies in English all day/night. However, I was unhappy that I was unable to access my external drive to play my own movies. Was unable to access the USB ports on the TV even using an universal remote. However, I was happy that I could at least change the language from German (unlike in the NH Collection hotel Friedrichstrasse in Berlin!!).
So, the GOOD and well room for improvement...
Good - Hotel is VERY near the Munich central bahnhof. Just exit the train station on the side that has Polizei vehicles (and construction). Exiting the station on the correct side saves MUCH walking!
Good - Generally, hospitable staff... was greeted upon entering the hotel after spending the day exploring. Warm greetings every morning for breakfast and upon leaving the breakfast/restaurant area. Particular notice to the breakfast wait staff. I wish I knew their names. A young, brunette haired lady assisted me several times and always had a cheery disposition. She smiled with her eyes and it really lit up her face! Loved it! I was also assisted by a male member who was prompt with offering sweets on a tray! The apricot pastry was absolutely delicious!
GOOD - COVID practices! Hand sanitizer available throughout the lobby and posted at the elevators. The breakfast/restaurant required masks (as is required throughout the hotel) and plastic hand sleeves were also provided and expected to be worn. I actually wore my own hand gloves, which was perfectly okay. Also the wait staff is prompt to correct you if you have forgotten to wear your mask when going for coffee etc. The same brunette-haired lady I mentioned before pointed out my error when I made a dash for coffee and had forgotten my mask. I immediately returned to my seat to adorn once again my mask. Bravo NH Collection Munchen Bavaria!
Good - I liked that some items were available buffet style at breakfast such as breads, fruit, yogurts, and juices. Other items such as made to order eggs, pancakes etc. were available on request.
Good - One number '9' I think for requesting anything housekeeping related. Very nice touch! Prevents bothering reception with such matters.
Room for improvement - Be more prompt about providing the free drink tickets when towels are re-used.
Room for improvement - The made to order items that are available should be posted. As far as I know, nothing is posted allowing the guests to know what items such as omelettes, pancakes etc. are available on request.
Room for improvement - Be more attentive to the notices which are hung on the door knob. I clearly hung a notice requesting my room to be cleaned. I was gone most of the day from noon until perhaps 8 or 9pm. Upon returning, I was dismayed to find that my room had not been cleaned. I immediately phoned reception about the issue. Someone at the reception remedied the situation by promptly providing all amenities needed for bathing etc.
That being said... I think the NH Collection Munchen Bavaria was a good choice. Some more places to store clothing would be nice in the room, but what is available is adequate.
