This was a rather quaint guesthouse which looked very promising from the promotional pictures. First impressions were positive but we left slightly underwhelmed. The communal areas of this establishment were well decorated with good amenities but were slightly untidy. An example of this could be seen in the living room where there looked like a half eaten cake had been left sitting there for a few days. How peculiar! The staff were exceedingly friendly but perhaps a little overbearing at times. We were shown to the master bedroom which was kitted out with all the latest modcons. Very impressive. Again however, a couple of things prevented my partner and I giving this guesthouse the top rating. The bathroom was stocked with top of the line products like tresseme conditioner and colgate toothpaste. However, the shower was more of a dribble and curtain, mouldy. All the more stupefying was the realisation that we would be sharing a room with the host! He put this down to the fact that they had overbooked and were trying their best to accommodate us. He also had the audacity to have us sleep on a blow up mattress while he slept in the kingsize bed. Much to our dismay there was no sight of the vegeterian breakfast we had requested with our booking. The final straw was when the Linda McCartney sausages advertised online that were promised were nowhere to be seen! Instead we had to settle for a solitary banana between us! And this only after asking the front desk! TLDR: Promising guesthouse took an interesting turn. A bizarre experience but would actually come again. Hope they take note of feedback.

We booked a 2 night stay for the 7th to the 8th November 2014 as little break as we are 7 months pregnant. We booked through booking.com and as it had good reviews, great location and off street parking it seemed ideal. We got a family room as they had had a cancellation, perfect! We arrived at Aaron guest house about 13:00hrs on the Saturday and there was plenty of parking right outside. We had a very warm welcome and Julian was lovely, pleasant and genuine. He sorted a permit out which was brilliant. He showed us the room with had a small double bed and a single, as my wife has a large bump now it was perfect as I could let her have the bigger bed. Room was very clean and tidy with loads of storage space. The few things that does need improving as we realised spending 2 nights there are 1. Room was quite cold, radiators need bleeding 2. No place in shower to put shower gel etc, a suction rack on the wall maybe? 3. Location if shelf in relation to the sink quite low and a struggle to brush teeth etc. I don't want to seem like a moaning old git be I feel little things make your stay that extra bit special. Breakfast was lovely and a good amount of food and Julian was quite accomadating to my wife's needs as she is pregnant. Overall very clean and in an excellent location 5/10 min walk to city centre. Just a few things need improving.
Stayed at the Aaron Guest House for two nights last week, we can honestly say that we've never felt so relaxed and 'at home' than we have here. Right from when we arrived, where we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Julian, to the morning we left, such a genuinely lovely person!! We were given a parking permit so we could park right outside the guest house. Our room was comfortable and clean, bed was so comfortable! We had a seperate bathroom down the hall which was for our sole use. This wasnt a problem at all, never once did we feel awkward or uncomfortable using the bathroom. There were fresh clean towels each day also.
Breakfast each morning was plentiful and tasty, and served in good time, again by Julian who endeavors to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Everything you would wish to do or see is literally a ten minute walk away.
York itself is such a beautiful place to visit with so many interesting places to see and things to do, plenty of lovely and quirky places to eat and drink too. Will definitely be going back to York and definitely stay at the Aaron Guest House again!!!
Aaron house was in a great location, only a 10-15 minute walk into the gorgeous city of York. The rooms were clean and tidy but our room (4) was so tiny it was impossible to put our suitcases on the floor until we moved the bed and I lost count of the number of times I hit my knees on the corner of the bed trying to walk around the room. This tiny room really is unsuitable for a couple. We were moved to a larger room for our second night when we asked, which was considerably more roomy. The English breakfast was delicious and the staff member was very efficient and polite, but the orange juice ran out before everyone was able to partake and was not refilled. Overall a great location and yummy breakfast elevated our rating from a 2 to a 3. The small rooms were quite claustrophobic and the rooms were very basic.
