We were placed in the DeluxRooms. Leaking thatch, no fire place as per pics, TV limited channels, no hot water, no attention to detail to the astetics of the room, loose wires, uneven curtains, no bed frill, old threadbare towels, cracked basins, rain water coming in at the door, zero attempt at gardening. NOTHING like the pics on their website. I feel scammed. Not worth the money....

The room were large and the floor is tiled. No loose mats next to bed. The tiles are cold. There was no little bar fridge with 2 bottles of water. The 2 water bottles was on the coffee stand. No extra blanket and were given a second duvet....you also do get small long life milk pods but there were creamer. The milk pods will make a vast difference. The milk pods and water bottles to be placed in bar fridge...also take note that some medicines must be kept cool in refrigirator and there was no bar fridge. This do have an impact on insulin as insulin pens must be in a "fridge"..we really would have stayed longer but due to no bar fridge and no mats on the floor we stayed one night. But that spash pool in the kloof are stunning.

We stayed overnight on our way back to Cape Town. I have driven past the Karoo One many times and it looked so nice, so decided to break our journey this time to stay over. I was very dissapointed. We arrived just before dark in very cold weather and everything was locked. Our phone batteries were dead and we struggled to call anyone to let us check in. We did find some one eventually and were checked in and taken to an outside room. En route to the room we walked past empty cooldrink tins and other junk including lots of cigarette butts on the dead lawn in front of the row of rooms we stayed in. The room was spacious and beautiful and the linen, white cotton and lovely and crisp. The bathroom layout is a bit silly though with the loo looking directly at the beds and no door! We were woken in the early hours (1am) by our neighbours returning to their room and then smelled as they lit up a cigarette. It was disgusting and we could hear every single word they were saying and they were not loud. Woke up again at 5am when their alarm went off. The door to our room was in the process of disintegrating with big gaps between panels to the outside world which lets the cold wind in, so the airconditioning/heater in the room did nothing to the cold. For coffee and tea in the room there was only a bag of rooibos tea and a sachet of nescafe with coffee creamer. Very basic. It is clear that the hotel was beautiful once, but was left under bad management and has the feeling of a crumbling, once beautiful place. Had a walk to the chapel and was not impressed. The roof and arches inside looked as if it was made out of bad paper-mache, with those beaded sheep everywhere. It did not come across as being in good taste.
Over all we were extremely disappointed and would not stay there again or recommend the place to anyone.

We came for our wedding anniversary and booked a room. Peace, quiet and a laidback atmosphere, this is the place for you. Karoo 1 offers entertainment for the kids as well. All staff are friendly, good service, and we enjoyed the food. After the floods 3 weeks ago they are fixing up the place, but it is still a pleasure. Definitely coming back with the whole family.
