We chose this spot as a base for our exploring of the west coast of Denmark. We also wanted to stay at a Danish inn. It was a very good choice. The room was rather large, the only negative thing was the proximity to a local train line (last train around 11 pm). Food at the restaurant was excellent, lots of classic Danish dishes. The staff was very nice and pleasant to deal with. The arrangements for covid-19 were good, plastic gloves and disinfectant at the breakfast buffet.

I booked this hotel because of its location: half way between Legoland, Ribe and the coast which I wanted to visit.
The room we had had seen better days but it was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent. However, the restaurant was nothing special.

Had to book this hotel as the hotels in Esbjerg were full. Was over on business in Esbjerg so had to get a taxi each day. This was a very minor inconvenience as my stay was just perfect. At first look the rooms, which are detached from the main building, looked like a very old motel type place. What a p,easy to surprise when I entered the room. Very, very comfortable and even had a couple of leather arm chairs which was a pleasant change from the normal uncomfortable hotel room chairs. The food was just sublime and the presentation was on a par with high class city centre restuarants. The couple who own the hotel were very friendly and nothing was too much for them to help.
All in all a very lucky choice of hotel and I would certainly stay there again in the future.

We enjoyed our visit to the Billum Kro while we were visiting the Varde area doing a little family genealogy. Katja and Alex were very friendly and helpful. Although our room was very close to the railroad tracks, we didn't notice any noise. The breakfast there was the best we had in our nine days in Denmark!

Now, I was staying here as my employer had arranged a conference in the hotel, and so we were instructed that two night's accommodation had been booked for us. So, I et off from Esbjerg aware that it was somewhere between there and Blavand.

In fact the Kro is situated on a roundabout, just where the main road crosses the local railway line, and was very easy to find. There was plenty of empty spaces to choose from, so i found a place near the reception, and went in.

The room was waiting, I was shown to the, and I would guess I would describe it as an American style motel room. Inced there was a good bed, a TV and free wi-fi was available. They did warn me that there is nothing else in the village, no where else to get a drink or meal. So I booked a table for that night and logged in without trouble to the free wi-fi.

The evening meal was the biggest plate of ribs I have ever had, and a fine couple of draught beers. As ever the service was great. There is even a small bar to retire to, which, like the rest of the hotel, is decorated in what can best be described as a 1970s style. Lots of smoked glass behind which were china animals and the like.

The next morning I was awoken at five to six as the first train of the day went through, followed fifteen minutes or so later by a train in the opposite direction. It wasn't the train, it was the bells of the level crossing. And you can hear them all over the hotel!

That apart, and in truth they really are not that loud, if you are a light sleeper like me, you will hear them, and the trains thereafter are only one an hour in each direction.

Breakfast was good, the usual selection of bread, rolls, eggs, bacon, cereal, boiled eggs and fruit.

Also the conference facilities here were good, for our group of a dozen people. We got a good lunch, nice selection of dishes and once again, good service.

I would stay here again, and is just a 15 minute drive from Blavand if you want to visit the beach.
