I stayed at Monte Rosa for a week and had a great time! The place is absolutely stunning, surrounded by nature, but with enough leisure areas. The staff was also very friendly - I particularly enjoyed the effort they put into booking activities that would suit my interests and schedules (yoga, hiking trips, bicycle trips). Food was delicious - you can't miss the breakfast! My room was really cozy and nicely decorated. We went on some hikes around, explored the nearby village and we also enjoyed some lazy pool days. Couldn't recommend Monte Rosa highly enough!
If you are looking for a relaxxing holidays with your family, this is the best place to stay!
I do recommend to book in advance!
You have a swimming pool & many cool apartments. It's close to a village called Barão de São João.
I found myself in Monte Rosa a place full of tranquility and full of nature....It's was exact what I needed after leaving in a busy London. The beauty about this retreat you can get as busy as you like and do as much as u or don't want that freedom of choice is good for me. You can go traquin, rent a bicicle or a car go to the near sea side only15 min drive walk to the village, horse riding you name it you got it...You can cook your on or order to eat there and belive me their food is exellent and their breakfast.... holistic tratments like reiki, indian head massage reflexology, yoga N.L.P and others all that is on request..... they are very nice people and the only thing I found I could'nt do is getting in the swiming pool or sea because the water was cold. Thanks every one !!! Good Luck !!! and Blessings Amelia from London England
After traveling from a bustling city I woke up at Monte Rosa and opened my apartment door to natural unspoilt beauty. It´s the secret garden we all wish we had. A place that is natural and real. My senses were awakened on a daily basis in this little haven. The wonderful aroma of many magnificent flowers and plants, the warm Portuguese sun on your skin, the awe inspiring views of hills, fields, blossom and trees and the exquisitely varied choice of cuisine served to perfection to meet the needs of every guest. On top of that I was made to feel at home. The staff always welcomed me with warmth and care in the most laid back yet attentive manner. Here is a place to let go of expectation and just take it easy. If you´d like to do that by the pool then let it be or if you´d prefer to pop into the city you are a mere 20 minute drive away. Monte Rosa lets go of conventional holiday resorts and touristy, overcrowded, impersonal hotels and embraces the idea of a home away from home in paradise.
This is a small tourist complex, between mountains and beaches in the southwest of the Algarve near Lagos.
As there were not available apartments or rooms, we stay in the wood “cabana”. Basic, with conditions only to sleep that easily could be improved. So, avoid sleeping on it and if you do bring insect repellent ... as there are some cracks, you can be easily “attack” by the mosquitos. If booking on advance you can find apartments with terraces, independent rooms and also the two “cabanas” with shared bathrooms and kitchen. We try the breakfast and it was a normal one: milk, coffee, tea, an imitation of orange juice (horrible), bread, cheese and marmalade ... for 6 euro each not worth the price. Local staff/volunteers are friendly. The surrounding area is well maintained with fruit trees, small gardens, community barbecue, a nice swimming pool and a playground.
In summary this is a place with no luxuries, not expensive and good enough to stay for a couple of nights.
