We stayed at Ten Bompas on Jan 23 2020. The web site sounded like a good and safe place to stay. 100% correct. Johannesburg can be a problematic place to fine clean/safe accomedations. Not knowing where anything was or where to really go was concern when you fly in from Canada. It turned out to be a good choice. We took a taxi from the airport which was a bit of a hike but interesting. The driver took us on a bit of a tour as well and was very helpful. He then became our driver for the days we were in "Joburg" as we tried other hotels as we explored the city.

Ten Bompas was the best by any measure. It was a bit away from the tourist activities but a great place to settle in and get over jet lag. Room service and the restaurant was very good. Bed was very comfortable. The room even had a private lawn/garden/sitting area patio! Plus it had a real wood burning fireplace. What a treat! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

There is not much to be said that has not been said before...I have stayed in many hotels but this is amazing. Room amazing, staff awesome and helpful, mini bar complimentary, good food, free laundry.

Not detriment to hotel but it’s an oasis in jo, if you want downtown.. not the hotel.... it’s peaceful, safe, happy and green.

A real gem of a 10 suite hotel, well situated in JoBurg. The staff are always pleased to be of real assistance. The value for money is there, with a fully stocked bar in the rooms and a really generous breakfast. Having one of JoBurg’s best restaurant on site, is a great plus in a city where wandering around at night, is not advisable.

The hotel is small, but the rooms are large and cozy. The rooms have all the amenities of a five star resort but they however a bit tired. Probably very luxurious ten to twenty years ago but now in need of a revamp. A bit of maintenance is needed on the detail in the room too. The flat screen tv sits an on old TV stand in a very awkward position and the reception wasn't working for DSTV. The heater in the bathroom was connected to a plug point that was hanging off the wall, looked very dangerous and wasn't working. Staff were incredible though and very friendly and tried to assist as best they could with anything we needed with smiles on their faces. The Winehouse restaurant was amazing though and it seems many guests just come for the restaurant and don't actually stay over, a further review on TripAdvisor for the restaurant.

Ten Bompas is an amazing place to stay and experience. As far as food the evening dining is amazing, the wine list is expansive, and even the beer selection is good (I’m from California and enjoy local craft beers). The rooms are large, comfortable, and tastefully decorated (we stayed in room 9).

If I were to change ONE thing about Ten Bompas it would be to give Marriott Bonvoy elite members (I am Titanium status) better perks, or at least equal perks, while using points with those who are paying. All paying guests, both standard and package, receive the free breakfast buffet daily. I had to pay for the breakfast which is counter to a Titanium status should receive.

This being said, Ten Bompas is a true five star experience; but those using points please don’t expect as much as a free breakfast that all paying guest receive.
