It was a too short stay at Alpenretreat ! What a nice host (particular "hello" to Wolfgang who was adorable and his wife too). Everything was Perfect and we will come back for sure if we travel in Austria again. The breakfast was delicious and vegetarian which is Nice ! The blue room is perfect for a couple and we appreciated the private bathroom and the beautiful point of view from our personnal entrance. Just be aware that the road to get there is a little bit dangerous by night with all the curves and all these big trucks on opposite side who goes pretty fast. But maybe it's just because we're not used to that from where we've come (Canada).
So... Dont hesitate a second and book there if you go in the beautiful region of the Tyrol in Austria.
I recently spent 7 very enriching days at AlpenRetreat. As it was my first retreat I was unsure what to expect, but after checking in, and settling into my comfy room with a breathtaking view, it was a little like coming home from home. It is a Retreat filled with compassion, care and respect for one another, by both the hosts, volunteers and fellow guests. The food was ample and delicious, beverages available around the clock. The location is world class, with immediate access to multiple mountain trails, some leading to exquisite Lakes. The 'Yoga and Hiking course' which I attended, lead by Jan has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself in a while. Enabling me to slow down, be present and find new tools and approaches to not just to life, but also to myeself. I am extremely grateful to have had the time I had there.
Our time at the Alpen Retreat was just magical! The place felt immediately like home. The room we stayed in was warm and spacious and you could see that it was made with love a lot of attention to detail. The team in the house was super friendly and helpful and their way of living and dealing with their guests really reflects the spirit of yoga.
The surroundings and the view are just breath taking! surrounded by mountains, lakes, castles and rivers, the possibilities for outdoor activities are countless. We took a small hike to the Blindsee, a crystal clear mountain lake near by...wow!
The yoga classes where great. Although my partner and I did a lot of yoga practice before, there were a lot of new things for us in the 2h classes we attended. It was not just physical yoga!
We will definitely come back to the Alpen Retreat and can only recommend it to anyone who wants to unwind, enjoy alpine nature, eat great vegetarian food and learn and practice yoga.
Nothing we can fault about the place. Great view, nice space and absolutely brilliant set up for they're guests.
Kitchen, fridge and other amenities are provided. Clean bathroom, kitchen and highly hygienist place to stay.
As my self are actually very picky in cleanliness department.
Love the wooden works and the deck view.
Down side was the booking were made for 2 couple and one room with single bed. We were get one King, one single bed which is a bit small for us. And the other room was fine. Never the less the host was quite helpful and friendly. Cam was great hosts.
Recommended for couple and Yoga lover but not for family with kids,Or large group.
But still it's amazing place around the accomodation 👍👈
When we arrived, we told the owners that we had booked the Blue Suite, (which I had booked many months in advance) a double room with private bathroom, private terrace and a kitchenette. We were told we had not, and were shown to a room with two single beds pushed together and a shared bathroom with no terrace. There was another room right next door with its own private outdoor area we were told we could use 'if no one turned up' but as they must have known it was booked I'm not sure why this was offered.
We double checked our confirmation and told the owners there had been a mistake, they apologised and admitted that they had made a mistake. We were told that we could have a complimentary dinner as compensation.
Later on sitting in our room we heard next doors guests arrive and be taken on the grand tour of the house which was not offered to us, this did nothing to help the feeling that we were unwelcome.
We were told on several occasions that dinner was at 7.30pm and so were our neighbours as all four of us arrived at the dinner room at 7.30pm to find enough food for only two people and a room full of other guests some of which were helping themselves to seconds. (The dinner was delicious). Again, this did not feel particularly welcoming.
I'm not convinced that the double booking was a mistake given how the owners behaved. It felt as though they just decided to take a longer booking on their more expensive room and deal with the fallout when it happened. It is probably a fine place to stay if you are going to book for several nights and take part in the activities offered by the retreat but avoid otherwise as they are clearly not interested in you.
