Absolute "bush" luxury. From the moment we arrived to the second we left, this place continued to impress us.
Exceptional service from all staff, our Guide Rian, Restaurant staff Sandra and Maria and Chefs and Vivienne in management, led by a great Manager who we saw everyday (I'm so sorry but we can't recall his name but he was unreal!)
Great activities included in our stay.
Over indulged on the breakfast and the all inclusive package we were offered. The standouts for Mosaic were the "one percenters" we really appreciated such as the honeymoon candles and champagne, the gin and the sherry in the rooms, the evening quote given out in the turn down service and the hammock... It was all perfect!
Our room was so clean with a magnificent view and it appeared that all rooms had a great view too.
Loved every minute of our stay here.

Our travel agent booked us into this location on the recommendation of somebody that had been there. The first important point to make is that these are guest house cottages, not a hotel.
We were not made aware of the fact that there is no restaurant, although they have a kitchen and can prepare 'food baskets' and will accommodate special dietary needs.
We found the service overall to be very friendly, helpful and willing to help with any queries.
Getting to the sanctuary requires 8+ kilometres of dirt track, bumpy. in places.
The setting is fabulous, very tranquil and peaceful!
We would recommend this location, but bear in mind the food situation and distance from shops/restaurants, and they are not an issue you will enjoy the experience.

Thank you for staying at Mosaic and recommending us. We are so happy you enjoyed the peaceful setting and tranquility. We feel badly that you thought you were booked into our fully inclusive Lagoon Lodge, which includes all meals, house beverages and activities on Mosaic. We hope you will visit us again and stay at our Lagoon Lodge and be fully pampered.
Kindest regards,
Kathryn and the Mosaic Team

Apart from the location (which is beautiful) things were really badly organized at this lodge. When we arrived at 4pm in the afternoon we were looking for someone to tell us where to go as there was no one at reception. We finally found a very nice lady who told us our rooms (4 of them) were not ready yet (at 4 pm?!). Which would have been okay if the rest would have been well arranged. When we finally got our rooms after 5pm no one was there to help with our luggage so my boyfriend had to go into the restaurant to find someone who could help. Our room was also not made up when we came back from dinner in their restaurant so was full of mosquitos etc and when we left no one was there to help put our luggage in the car (while I was 33 weeks pregnant) The desert had a rotten melon in it too....

We appreciate the time our guest has taken to comment on the recent stay with us. We welcome all feedback from our guests: in person especially, on our room comment cards, and on Trip Advisor. It is our deepest concern that this guest’s Trip Advisor comment is disappointing, and we address every item of every comment we receive (positive or negative) with all our staff members to know where we are serving our guests the best we can and where we need to make improvements. After investigating this with our staff, we are very surprised at this Trip Advisor comment due to the following:

* The arrival time was noted just after 2:00 pm (14:00 hrs) by Amba - Lodge Manager, and Simone - Spa Manager. Our check in is between 3:00 – 4:00 pm. We welcome all our guests who wish to arrive early to enjoy a lunch or and or drinks at our 1892 Spookhuis Cafe’. If rooms are ready early we are happy to have our guests get situated in their rooms as soon as they arrive. Early check in was not possible in this case due to being fully booked during the Christmas peak season.
* We provided mezze platters and complimentary sparkling wine to the whole group of eight on the deck underneath the milkwood trees at Lagoon Lodge. They were notified when their rooms were ready but we respected their choice to go to the rooms at 4:00 pm after the meal and drinks were finished.
* The bed turn-down was completed with netting fully draped around the bed and mosquito deterrents in place. All rooms are fitted with two screened transom windows which can be left open to enable fresh air cross breeze in the rooms without letting nighttime light attracting bugs enter. We apologize if this system was not fully explained and perhaps a non-screened window was left open.
* Dessert was enjoyed by all other guests that evening. Upon this guest’s accusation that the melon was “poisoned”, our chef offered to change the dessert but the guest insisted that it not be.
* We have porters to carry guests’ luggage and they are instructed to do so when our guests checkout of their rooms. The rest of this group was still in the dining room not checked out, and the porter responsible for this guest’s luggage was changing the flat tire on their vehicle. We apologized for any inconvenience this caused.

We strive to offer every guest the best experience to, most importantly, be served well by all our staff, and enjoy good food, drink, activities and the extraordinarily beautiful nature that surrounds us.

Marcelino
General Manager

Mosaic Farm is ideal for those who seek luxury in a beautiful, peaceful, rural setting with the bonus of having multiple things to do and see on your doorstep (ish).
We stayed during the Spring and to say the setting is spectacular would be doing it an injustice: The flowers stretched out in front of the milkwood covered lodges all the way to the flamingo filled lagoon (with the odd blue crane), which was in turn was backed by steep rising mountains that ran all the way to the horizon and sea. It really made us feel like we were staying in true wilderness, yet in reality we were 10 minutes away from the pretty village of Stanford and then another 15 minutes onto Hermanus – this means this really is perfectly situated accommodation.
We stayed in a Lagoon Lodge Suite that was made to the highest standards out of purely natural elements and has a genuine African feel. The suites are large with high airy ceilings and a cushioned chill out area that are nice aesthetic touches combined with a huge bed looking straight over the beautiful decking area, out to the lagoon and mountains. It is worth noting that because of the size and style of the accommodation it isn’t the warmest in the colder months, however don’t let this put you off as it just means you have to wear an extra layer.
Behind the bedding area is a dressing table (for the ladies) with hair dryer, plenty of hanging and storage space and the enormous bathroom with all the necessaries to get you ready for your evening in the restaurant. In particular, the bathroom is extremely luxurious with a huge bath set into stone and wood with taps made of copper piping – again nice quirky décor. The shower is outside and although a bit cold when initially getting out (in spring) is actually a really nice experience when under the nice hot water.
Cleanliness wise the chalets and indeed all communal areas are immaculate. Bedding is changed daily; your room will be tidied and cleaned every morning and then again in the evening.
The suites are linked to the reception area, restaurant and bar by a series of wooden walkways that weave their way through the milkwood grove and make for a real romantic air, particularly in the evening when everything is lit by a mixture of lanterns and cleverly placed spotlights. Similarly impressive was the restaurant which continued with the natural build of the rooms and is decorated to extremely high standards.
Aesthetically Mosaic Farm is 5 star all the way but this you can find in many places. What sets this place apart the food and service.
Every night we would go to the bar area for a drink before our meal and after having a banter with the guys working on the bar, Chef would come over, talk us through our menu choices and usually recommend the perfect wine to accompany it. Generally making us feel like we were the most important guests they’d ever had. It was incredible and never done in a smarmy, suck up fashion. We had a genuinely great experience through fantastic food and easy conversation every evening and when the food came we were left for the rest of the night to enjoy each other’s (me & my wife) company. I have never experienced service like it, nothing was too much would be under selling Mosaic Farm.
Recommendations for things to do:
• In summer, I imagine just chilling out around the lodge or beach will satisfy most for at least a week. Just in case you’ll like me and need to do………
• Whale Watching (August – November) – This can be done from the beach nearby; even better from the Hermanus cliffs (Gearings Point etc) or the quieter De Kelders; and even better yet is with African Wings – a 30 minute flight over Walker bay will give you unforgettable views of countless whales (& their calves) and sharks. Evan is based in Stanford and his flights are a must for Wildlife lovers.
• Cage Diving with Great Whites. Best done in Gansbaai and is about 30 minutes drive down the coast. Is a bit of controversial activity In South Africa, however we found that the guys at White Shark Diving Company treated the animals with real respect and for such an adrenaline fueled sport we always felt safe. Get it done and remember this business ensures these Sharks are worth more alive than dead. Shame this isn’t the case for the Rhinos further north!!!
• Wine tasting. Loads of vineyards situated left and right on the beautiful R320 just out of Hermanus. For us the best were Ashbourne, Creation & Bouchard Finlayson (Pinot Noir) and for some lunch make sure you don’t miss out Heaven which is appropriately named (make sure you book) at the Newton Johnson estate.
• Quad Biking. It’s free so use it!!!! Great fun piling through the dunes and onto the beach with a chance to see the whales.
• Eating. Heaven as mentioned above is amazing as are the very popular Bs Steakhouse near Hermanus and Marianas in Stanford.
• Hermanus. Nice looking place in its own right and a lot of fun especially around the whale festival in September.
• Knitting!!!!! My wife enjoyed the knitting set in the room. If memory serves it was helping knit something for a good cause.
Hermaus and the outlying areas are a must see with all its beauty and fun things to do. So if you come here and stay somewhere else other than Mosaic Farm, quite simply you will ….. miss out !!!

I am at a loss for words after reading your amazing review of Mosaic! We really cannot thank you enough for writing such a detailed account of your stay and how happy we are you enjoyed your time with us! I have to say, it is so awesome for all our team to know they succeeded in making you feel like our most important guests! We are also so glad you were able to spend long enough to do all the Mosaic activities plus what our surrounding area offers. There is so much to experience!
THE GOOD NEWS...we have just purchased the coolest fireplaces for our Lagoon Lodge rooms, so when your return you will be so warm and toasty! They are pellet fireplaces; safe, environmentally friendly, use biomass pellets as fuel.
We hope you can return soon to Mosaic.
Kindest regards,
Kathryn

If you want a location to unwind, unplug, and generally have down time this is it. Situated at the base of the mountains, this 5 cottage,( no TV no WI-FIin cottage), is immersed in the bush for birding and nature. Staff is so welcoming, and so eager to please. The food is outrageous for breakfast and dinner, with exotic meats lunch is simple fare due to activities, at lodge or "Spookhus", another restaurant on premise. High tea is wonderful. Twice a day activity of quad bikes, boating, nature walking with guide etc...fantastic. our guide was so knowledgable of local birds, flowers, etc... Had a whale watching trip in the afternoon from land on sand dunes. Cottages had private back decks that we could watch the flamingo's and other wild life, and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Short drive to Hermanus for whale watching, shopping, or golf. We were very sorry to leave . Warning for those who need to be connected all the time, will not happen, wi-fi is in main lodge only, speed depends on how many of us connected. 5 private cottages, absolutely fabulous.
