Good communication with the property owner prior to the visit.
Lovely little pool and gardens its obvious love has been taken building this place.
Big Big room, kitchen very convenient for a longer stays, fans in the main living area, AC in the bedroom, warm shower, safe, big balcony, close to the shops, banks, food outlets etc etc. Beach close by with overhanging palms for shade. Great WIFI
No real negatives but the place lacked something i cant put my finger on.
Would i say again? probably not but i would recommend it.
We stayed for one night after a flight from Myanmar and before a morning ferry to Koh Phangan.
I wasn’t aware upon booking but the hotel has quite limited check in times and staff are only on hand within office hours. We arrived in the late evening and by email contact the staff advised me they would not be there and they ended leaving our key in our door for arrival.
The room was basic, had a reasonably comfortable double bed and a small en suite bathroom. The bathroom had a wet room floor but flooded when the shower was in use and took a while to drain so it was a bit inconvenient to then use the bathroom. The shower head was also damaged which made it less powerful.
We saw the owner the following morning she seemed reasonably friendly but a little distant - maybe you just have to stay longer to get to know her.
There seems to be dramatic one star reviews since the owner changeover this year. There was nothing dramatically wrong with our stay and I wouldn’t necessarily avoid the place however I wouldn’t want to stay for a protracted stay on Koh Samui (no easy beach access, small little pool and basic rooms). It definitely served its purpose for a one night stay though.
Be very aware all the good reviews are before the new management took over on 14 March 2018. The only reason we did not turn around and walk out was we had to prepay for the 4 nights.
We were very disappointed with this hotel, one of the worst experiences among our extensive travels.
It started from the first greeting from the new owners “You are not meant to be here!” when we arrived early. The new manager (and owner) Stephanie said the room would not be ready so come back after 2pm. Normally there is an offer to store your bags till you return but no such offer. When we returned at 2pm the room (room 5) was available but was very dirty and poor value for 2,000 Baht a night. We were told there would be a thorough cleaning the next day. On the second day we retuned and found the bed unmade and the room still dirty. The manager explained that she did not have time to clean the room! She then changed the excuse and said we did not leave the key in the box. Since she never told us to leave the key in a box on the ground floor how would we know.
Breakfast was only served from 8.30am which was of no use since all the tours had pickups from your hotel at 8am to 8.15am. After a while we just got use to the poor service and did not expect much. At breakfast we asked for salt and pepper and were told “we have salt but no pepper”. After staying for 4 days there was still no pepper! At 5.30pm we sat in the pool side area so we could have drinks before dinner. After 30 minutes the only person to have a dink was the manger’s husband, so we left for drinks elsewhere.
The property is listed on booking.com as being 1 minute walk from the beach or 150 metres. In the past it probably was but now there is a construction site on the only direct access to the beach, so one must walk several hundred metres around back streets.
Apparently, the new owners/management had only arrived the same day as us we did but that is no excuse to have dirty rooms and numerous other issues.
Aside from being dirty our accommodation had very old tired looking items. The bedroom lamp stand was rusty, the blinds had stains, mirrors all smudged, rubbish from previous guests was still under the kitchen sink, cable TV had poor reception, etc.
There was no respect for our personal belongings. We came home on the third day at 6pm and found our room occupied by tradesmen trying to fix the air con on another room but using our room for power point and access. Our washing from the bathroom was moved outside onto the balcony together with the wet/used towels from the bathroom. It seems they wanted us to re-use the dirty towels once they were dry. Even when cleaned the towels were smelly and scratchy.
Before we arrived, we requested parking for our car but found that the guests only have the use of any car spaces that are not needed by the manger or tradesmen. There were only spaces for 4 cars and when we finally parked the car we found it took over 10 minutes of driving back and forth to get out. Meanwhile the owner’s car, which was blocking our car, was not moved until we complained.
For 2,000 baht per night we would have expected a far, far better room, better guest treatment & adequate parking. These are all sorely lacking at this property. The rooms were not as advertised; rooms were dirty & most need immediate renovations. Rooms on floors 3 & 4 are barely passable/ I would avoid booking all together the rooms on floors 1 and 2. I’m afraid the owners are clueless as far as running a Bed and breakfast. We found them a tad bit rude, overwhelmed with Basic customer service needs & guest relations. In fairness, they did just take over as new owners this very week! I would suggest they close immediately, renovate the property & figure out how to run a proper small hotel! In the current situation, I would stay far, far away. Only bright spot was a lovely small pool.
We came to stay in Koh Samui in mid October and we are glad we chose this place. The apartment has everything you cold possibly need (fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave even a small cooker and a blender to make dalicious smoothies). The lounge is spacious and light, it has a balcony, a confy sofa, table, chairs fans and aircon.
The toilet has an independent shower which is difficult to find in South East Asia the room is spacious, with lovely decoration, air-conditioning and TV. They have a safe in each apartment and you can borrow towels, beach mats, umbrellas and even a beach bag.
There is a lovely swimming pool you can use whenever and is located 5 minutes walk from the beach and the night market. Dimitri, the Russian guy that runs the place is lovely, he recommended us lots of places to visit, eat and was willing to help us every time we needed.
Definetly a bargain! If we go to Koh Samui again we'll repeat 100% sure.
