Had car trouble en route, and despite sending emails to the booking office explaining our delay, when we arrived after 6pm, one day late, our reservation had been cancelled. This was to be our first camp of 3 for the 9 days that we booked, and paid for in advance in the Gondwana group in Namibia, so extremely distressing. It took us about an hour to check in and we helped receptionist Beauty to re-arrange bookings to give us our 3 consecutive nights in one room.

We also somehow misread the marketing material and were very surprised not to have a kitchen or at least a fridge as we generally do self catering.

But a happy surprise was that the price included breakfast, which was a really nice spread with quality ingredients. We had the boma dinner one night, but felt the menu was very boarding school like and could be elevated for the experience. We also ate lunches and dessert at the restaurant which was of much better standard. The duty manager Bevan is a real people person and an absolute asset to the lodge. The area had a problem with no power for a day, and of course the wifi couldn't work with the tower down. Felt so sorry for the staff trying to assist Guests checking out. And also dealing with the elephants at night, who crossed the river into the camp.

Despite all this the location is amazing, staff friendly. We finally felt we were on holiday and could destress, enjoying walking around the area and birding. The boat cruise is an absolute must. Our guide was Elphias, really went the extra mile for his group. The sightings from the water were very special and sunset was spectacular. So enjoyed all the photography, and the last sighting of elephants with babies crossing the river was absolutely memorable.

We had a lovely stay at Chobe River Camp. Tents are beautiful and staff very helpful and friendly. There was some miscommunication about our room, but it was sorted out very quickly. The only downside for us was that there is only the buffet at the restaurant for dinner. Even though its half price for kids, the kid friendly food options were limited and it felt a bit rough to pay that amount for a buffet if your child only eats a bread roll. Other than that we had a great stay😃

This was my second stay in this camp after being here in 2016.
My expectations from the previous stay were once again fulfilled.
The lodge and the tents are just in front of the chobe river, in which otters play and many birds roam around. At night bufallos from the floodplains come close to the camp. Sometimes during the night you can hear the elephants walking through the camp. The en suite tents are beautifully decorated and let you experience the bush in an incredible way. During night you are part of this wilderness.
Food is great and served in a kraal like place.
Go to this place, if you are in the area!

We were supposed to stay at the camping and at last minute, we decided to stay in a room at the lodge. We were travelling with our daughter so we needed 1 extra bed which they didn't have. The staff was very helpful and in the end, they found the extra bed. The dinner was delicious, the decoration, incredibly beautiful and one of the best views in Namibia. Definitely would recommend it!

This is a recent acquisition by Gondwana, and still has a long way to go. We enjoyed our stay, and the two young managers looking after us were very helpful as were the rest of the staff, but they can only do so much with what they have been given. Staff uniforms are needed, a bit of landscaping wouldn't go amiss, and the restaurant needs improvement. Our drive/boat trip was cut short due to a huge lightning storm but Abel made it so much fun that we loved it anyway. Aircon was actually installed in our room while we were staying there and it was badly needed !
We would visit again, but this is largely due to the managers Abel and Kayla who looked after us so well.
