We were a party of two going to Gran Canaria for a stay of only one night. We arrived fairly late, so were unable to make use of the free airport shuttle, instead taking a short (10-15mins) taxi journey to the hotel. We also had to use a taxi for the return journey to the airport - too early for the shuttle.
Despite what some other reviewers are saying, first impressions were very favourable. The hotel was brightly lit, check-in was prompt and efficient and in no time at all we were directed to our rooms on the second floor.
The rooms (double, non-smoking) were bright and airy; there were the usual room amenities such as TV, desk, kettle, all as advertised. We had arrived late at night, so we both went straight to sleep ready for a relatively early return flight, rather than exploring what the room had to offer.
Waking up to the views of the sunrise streaming through from the east-facing balcony was absolutely breathtaking - the air was so clear; this did mean however that the room warmed up very quickly when the sun came up each morning - with no air conditioning, just closing the net curtains seemed to do the trick and still allowed the light and fresh breeze to waft through whilst cutting down the heat.
Breakfast each morning was a wonderful experience - the freshly-squeezed orange juice was so refreshing, as well as a multitude of breakfast items, both continental and cooked selections were available. Again, we chose to sit near the window, enjoying the sunrise.
Although this hotel was booked originally for one night, we found out during breakfast that we needed to stay an extra night due to a cancelled return flight. Although the hotel reception staff couldn't access their booking system during the morning when we requested the extra night, it wasn't a drama to just call our office and ask them to extend the booking. Very quickly after this had been done, the reception staff called up to our rooms and advised us that the booking was extended and - much to our relief - we could stay in the same rooms for the second night !!! Thumbs up for going the extra mile and sorting this out - we could have been forced to pack and unpack, but the staff realised this and sorted it out for us.
The additional 24hrs allowed us to thoroughly explore and make use of our rooms' facilities.
The coastal location of the hotel enabled us to take a 30-40min walk right up to the Atlantic sea front and watch the waves breaking against the sea defence wall; for those not fancying such a long walk, there was a shopping centre a few minutes' walk away with various clothing / fast-food / electronics establishments plus a Carrefour supermarket.
For those not wishing to leave the hotel, there is also a rooftop swimming pool with chairs around it; we spent most of the second day here - very pleasant.
Although we didn't pay ourselves, the nightly rate was very reasonable, to say it was booked a matter of days before arrival and we had to add on an extra night with no notice whatsoever. The hotel wasn't full, but was fairly busy (low season - November?) so seems to be a popular place to stay year-round.
To summarise, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay - contrary to some of the reviews, we didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned and would be happy to stay here again next time we visit.
