After quite a tough drive up the hill and thru the little village, arrival, nobody there, door open, nothing, then on the window silt a small note telling me the room and breakfast next day, with a phone number to contact in case, ok the room, well, bathroom no towels, the mentioned phone number wrong, then I found the correct one 3 attempts all declined, finally contacting booking.com in London and this suddenly worked within 10 min the lady showed up and I got some towels : so if you want to visit this place make sure there is some service
We finally found our hotel...It was certainly a challenge. If you are not used to skinny roads...don't go here. Being from Australia with wide open spaces, we were not accustomed to these skinny roads. However, we managed to negotiate the road and found out Hotel. And we were pleased. as it was a lovely comfy room. "Mum" looked after us. Would definitely return. Thankyou ...you live in a beautiful place.
When we arrived the owner was not there and we were met by her mother. She spoke no English and we spoke no Spanish but she was very helpful and managed to give us our room. The owner arrived later and introduced herself and her delightful daughter. She does not live on site and went back home to get a kettle and some tea bags for us so that we could make a drink. Breakfast was basic but the owner made sure we had enough to eat and drink. The view from the bedroom and balcony was breathtaking, picturesque and well worth the steep climb up to the village.
One thing you need to be aware of is that the streets of the village and the approach to the b&b are very narrow and a bit nerve wracking when trying to get a medium sized car through the gaps. Unfortunately we could only stay one night but would go back again without hesitation. The place is very clean, nice and peaceful and the owner speaks good English is friendly and helpful.
L"Era de Cal Bastida is beautifully located in a small, stone mountain village. Absolutely picturesque. The village, and the surroundings are outstanding. Access is by a mountain road and the parking is only for small cars. The proprietor, Pilar, was very friendly and helpful. The B&B was very clean and comfortable with great views. The room and bath were very good. The alpine-like setting is wonderful. Breakfast was included and was good. Dinner can be arranged. This was a great experience in the Pyrenees. We would recommend this facility. The Pyrenees in this region are not commercialized. Staying here is a natural and tranquil experience.
We stayed at L'era de Cal Bastida for one night back in September 2012 whilst travelling through France and Spain on a bike, and just loved the place... the roads up to the village were great fun but some might find them a bit narrow - however, that's what we were there for. Fabulous views, a very comfortable room and breakfast included. We also had dinner the previous evening which Maria came back to cook at about 9pm, as she doesn't live on site. The peace and quiet is something else and the village very quaint. Next time we'll stay longer...
