Wimpy offers good fast food. Menu has something for everyone from breakfast, Burgers, salads, chicken and steak. The best waffles in the South. Coffee is always good. No-fuss food and reasonably priced. Good value.
The place to eat at 44 Stanley. Nothing beats the ambience and excellent food. The setting under the trees, next to the water fountain. People watching, friends, a glass of wine- relaxing. Pastas, Pizzas etc very fresh with unique combinations. There is a venue for functions - beautiful.
Boutique shops, antiques, books, designer furniture, french furniture, the most adorable babies/toddler clothing and toy store. Take the morning to stroll through and en up at Il Giardino for lunch - that's a must do. Unique experience.
Shop like a pro all under one roof! Big brand names, small boutique shops, even the best little Toy Store in Joburg - Lilliputs should not be missed by all ages. The Woolworths is super. River Island is a must and I never leave without a visit to Exclusive Books. Trendy and fun. Well planned shopping centre with something for everyone.
This little gem is a bit off the beaten track in Olivedale, but boy oh boy the food is worth the travel. Be sure to book and don't be in a rush. This is a restaurant for foodies and people who enjoy a really superb meal.
My favourite is Chicken Limone -every time. They serve a super breakfast and vast selection on the menu filled with lovely dishes - lunche or dinner. Lovely vibe. Good coffee. But for me, it's always the Chicken Limone with Roast Veggies that warms my heart.
Plan a day trip out to the North of Joburg to discover a few hidden gems. Wondercave is one. It's interesting, adventurous and well worth the drive. Visit the adjoining Rhino and Lion Park as part of your excursion. Have lunch at the restaurant at the Rhino Park. This is a full day trip, but a must see for nature lovers.
Good food in a classy ambience. Pizzas, Pasta etc. with designer fillings and flavours. Lovely view all the way to Magaliesberg.
Gigantic muffins. Great Coffee. Wide selection of good food on the menu. Something for everyone. Well worth a visit.
A must do if you are near Fourways area (North of Joburg) / also one near Clearwater on the West Rand. Open air restaurant with lovely play area for children. Lovely food, pizzas, pasta etc. A place to spend a whole morning, afternoon or evening. Be sure to book.

Spend a day seeing a huge selection of animals in a lovely zoo environment. Lions, Elephants, monkeys, reptiles galore. All of Africa's animal kingdom is in as natural a environment as a zoo allows. If you don't have time to go on safari or to Kruger, the Joburg Zoo is your answer. Lovely park like areas to sit and rest. A train takes you through the whole zoo of you feel like it. The Lion enclosure as well as other Big cats is natural and you are sure to be able to take lovely photo's from close-up.
If it's steak and ribs you are after, Thundergun is the place to go. Generous helpings, succulent meat with condiments and a variety of burgers, chicken, you choose. You will leave having experienced on of Joburg's favourite Steak Houses. Good fun.
In a class of its own. Award winning country restaurant. Classy Italian dishes prepared fresh from homegrown ingredients on the premises. A bit out of town but the setting and ambience is breathtakingly beautiful. Not your average Italian food restaurant. Attention to detail, beautiful flowers, a fireplace in winter, very cozy and romantic. Lovely gardens and roses surround a historic building. Fine cuisine. Just make a reservation, you'll be glad you did.
Fun place to spend a day. Visit this mining town of the Gold Rush era. Lots to do for everyone. Young and young at heart.Shops, eateries, fairground, giant rollercoaster, rides, live shows, historic tours. Adventure park with adjoining Hotel and Casino very near the city centre to the South.
See glass being moulded into the most exquisite pieces. Very interesting and worth a visit. Buy a special momento knowing that you witnessed how it was made. Shops and snacks on site.
A day spent at the Lion and Rhino Nature Reserve is a must for those who are keen to see the biggest selection of wildlife and exotic cats within 30 minutes drive of Joburg. Take binoculars if you have. The game roams free but roads lead to quite close to most. You could also be lucky to see them at a water hole. Huge list of animals, birds even crocodiles and reptiles. A definate must see.
For a quite day in the most relaxing setting, make your way to Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. Try to see the nesting pair of Veraux's Eagles on the cliff near the waterfall. Go on hikes into the lovely park. Go bird watching at the hide. Lie on a blanket under the trees and day dream. Take a picnic basket or eat at the restaurant on the premises. Families, kids, young and young at heart will enjoy this wonderful tranquil garden filled with a vast treasure of flora and fauna.
Pick a table under the trees, near the kiddies playground and relax with lovely food for all. Kids make their own pizzas and are amazed by the huge playground including pony rides and dodgems! Really a feast for families with small kids, friends, families. Within the Lifestyle Garden Complex, wonder round shops and roses. Excellent food, superb scones with jam and cream - my personal favourite.
About an hour's drive from Joburg. Beautiful mountains with lovely big dam. Lots of stalls and shopping in the area. Restaurants almost all the way round. Be sure to visit the Cable Car to the top op the Magaliesberg. There is also a Snake and Reptile park in the area. The Dam wall is historic and you can park and walk along the dam wall. Beautiful natural setting amongst the Magaliesberg.
