Kuala Lumpur, a City of the old & New

87%
Found this guide helpful

If you have 1 day only, the time is limited and you need to plan & use the time efficiently. The suggestion is to see some of the new & some of the old all in one day. To start of the day start off with something new, the Petronas Twin Towers is a must and you can visit the KLCC Suria shopping complex at the same time. There is typical Food court & some typical Malaysian restaurants as well as other international cuisine like Thai, Japanese, Western, Fast foods, etc where you can have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Visit the top of the Twin Towers via the skybridge to view KL City with a 360 deg vision. Top up your stay at KLCC with ample choice & variety of branded goods, Malaysian handicraft as well as other usual & normal shopping items like apparel, jewellery & footware + household items. After spending about half day at KLCC you can proceed to the older part of the City starting with some time visiting Dataran Merdeka right in the centre of the City, with a beautiful piece of sports grounds and a majestic view of the Moorish Sultan Abdul Samad Buildings, Old Railway Station, Majestic Hotel and the Royal Selangor Club in Tudor architecture. Then you can walk towards the Central Market & Petaling Street in Chinatown. There are many shops in Central Market selling Malaysian handicraft and many street stalls in the Petaling Street area selling copy fashion items, apparel. In addition there is a lot of local street foods & fruit choices which increases will an array of additional stalls into the evening. There are also a litter of pubs and restaurants littering the whole area which can satisfy you with a variety of Local Malaysian food. It's a whole different experience and should occupy your whole day into the night.
