Budapest is not the usual tourist destination, but it should be. It is a beautiful city that is friendly to tourists and relatively easy to get around. Give yourself a few days to explore and fall in love with the food and the charms of this Eastern European Gem.

    Colleen D Says:

We have stayed at The Four Seasons twice and frankly I cannot imagine a better hotel. It is located in the historic Gresham Palace which has stunning architecture and it located on the Pest side of the city at the foot of the Chain Bridge. It is a quick walk to many shops and restaurants. It is expensive, but worth the splurge. The hotel restaurant is lovely and serves a simply fantastic European breakfast (American favorites are also available) and even if you don't stay at the hotel, stop by to enjoy the beautiful building and have afternoon tea with a pastry in the restaurant.

This is the sort of place you just have to see to believe. I happen to love marzipan (and there is plenty to purchase in the shop), but do yourself a favor and pay the nominal fee to tour the marzipan museum. You will not learn how marzipan is made. No, you will learn that ANYTHING can (and has) been made from marzipan. This includes scenes from many Disney movies, Michael Jackson, replicas of buildings, Princess Diana, embroidery rendered in marzipan, etc. It is tucked away in the castle district near the Fisherman's Bastion plaza. My kids took photos of nearly everything. Weird, but wonderful.
