Traveling with family can be stressful, and Club MoBay is the perfect solution for those who want to avoid the airport hassles. You'll get to skip the long immigration and customs lines when you purchase Club MoBay's services at arrival, as well as upon departure. The lounge is a beauty — you get free drinks and snacks when you arrive or while you wait to depart. This service is worth every penny.
Montego Bay's most popular beach, the often-crowded private Doctor's Cave Beach Club, is a small stretch but stunning with its white sand, multi-color umbrellas, turquoise Caribbean waters. Come here to mix and mingle while your kids play, or sit back and enjoy some people watching.
Go rafting on the Martha Brae River and experience one of Jamaica's most celebrated activities: floating downstream on a bamboo raft, looking out for wildlife, while taking in the island's lush interior. The river is just 20 miles from downtown Montego Bay.
Montego Bay's main tourist drag, Gloucester Avenue, is known as the 'Hip Strip.' Take a stroll down this lively avenue to get a glimpse of MoBay's energy. There isn't much to do here per se, but it's a quintessential place for grabbing a bite to eat and picking up souvenirs on a MoBay vacation.
Tucked up in the hills of Ocho Rios, a mere one-hour ride away, Mystic Mountain is one of the most fun excursions for adventurous families. Hop into a bobsled and ride its winding tracks while screaming your lungs out, surrounded by gorgeous rainforest and mountain views. You can also check out the Sky Explorer, a chairlift that carries you slowly at 700 feet above the canopy for breathtaking views of the Ocho Rios Hills. Finish the day off with the steel water slide that will throw you into an infinity edge pool.
Located just outside Montego Bay, inside a lush park, is one of the most beautiful rivers and cascades: Mayfield Falls. To get to the falls, you'll spelunk caves and cross a jade river with your guides help. You'll find yourself surrounded by lush fern trees, and will occasionally have to swim through deeper spots. The end reward is reaching a cascade of two waterfalls. The Mayfield River hike adventure is one of the most fun outdoor excursions, and a great way to spend time with the family.
Hop over to the hills of Montego Bay, away from the tourist noise of the Hip Strip, and get a day of Jamaican arts and nature at Ras Natango Gallery. Take a tour through the lush tropical garden, where you're sure to spot various local plants and birds as you learn about the unique, whimsical art you find here. Kids will have fun exploring the art and playing in this serene natural spot.
Jamaicans will tell you that White River is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in Jamaica. And indeed, it's hard to resist its emerald waters. A great way to take in all of this river's beauty and force is to go tubing down the rapids, then cool off at the end with a refreshing swim. Sure to be loads of fun for the whole family!
Located in the beautiful beach town of Negril, just an hour and 15 minutes away, Kool Runnings Water Park is a child's dream, and just as fun for adults. There are ten varied theme slides of up to 40 feet in height — try the 'Bolt Lightning' — to keep everyone having fun in the water. There’s also a lazy river, ideal for the smaller kids, and three restaurants. After the pools, head directly across the way to enjoy the sparkling white sands of Negril Beach.
Montego Bay is the headquarters for the popular, locally owned and operated, Chukka Caribbean. The tour company offers a host of outdoor activities, ranging from their popular horseback Ride 'n' Swim (horse back riding on land and in the sea) to zip lining, off road safaris, and cultural tours.
