Hi, Can I anyone tell me if this island is safe for a couple travelling from India? And how much would the language be an issue (we don't speak Dutch at all)?
Lastly, is a night stay possible? I mean do tourists generally stay over? Any recommendations?
Thanks and regards, Aman
No worries about no Dutch. Everyone speaks English in Holland. And for safety I would say it is perfectly safe. Just don´t rely on warm water in the sea... It is the North Sea after all. Staying the night is possible, there are several places on the island you can stay. Alternatively you can stay on the mainland as it is only 20 min away by ferry. We stayed in a bed and breakfast type of thing which was nice. But we booked literally last minute therefore the lack of choice. Try to plan in advance as there are a lot of Dutch and German tourists in July and August. Definitely worth visiting, magnificent dunes and perfect for nature lovers, also calm and quiet.
Ofcourse it is safe! Everybody speaks english! You are in Holland! Yes you can stay on The a island for one or more nights. Some peoples stay weeks!
It is quite a safe island, which most of the people speak English. I recommend that you stay in Texel for only one night, because there are really not much things to see. Attractions: Lighthouse, Ecomare (marine life museum), Shipwreck and Beachcombing museum and the beaches. You can also rent a bike there, which you can enjoy the magnificent views of the sea. Oh! Don't forget to look for Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just at the east coast of Texel. This island is perfect for nature lovers.
