Yes you can.

A word of advice, there are many companies that may provide that service but some may try to rip you off. Saying that I must tell you there are different ways to get up to Monteverde:

1. There are daily buses leaving the city of Puntarenas to the town of Santa Elena (the only town around about 3 Ks away from Monteverde) where the last stop is. One leaves at 5:30 am and 6:30 am. There's one at 1:15 pm and a last one at 2:30 pm. This bus ride will take you about 3 hours if there's no issues on the road that is being fixed after Nate. You can look them up and get detailed info TransMonteverde. You can even purchase the ticket on line. During high season you may need to go standing if you did not get the first seat numbers.

2. Taxis will probably charge you too much but there are many companies too. A local Santa Elena Taxi company that I use charges approximately $100 and they have the legal papers and insurance for any trip in the country and that is very important. All their taxis are not all brand new or 100% nice but that happens when the roads are not paved.

3. A shuttle service has a pre-set schedule and that may create a problem because you will need to leave when they are available and then come back. Normally for that route there are only two set times, one to go down and one to go up. (down meaning Puntarenas and up meaning Monteverde) Just in case there's one call Interbus and another one that comes up here occasionally called Gray line. You may look them up too.

4. There are transportation companies also that I have used a number of times because they are reliable, people I trust and know well enough. I have sent my relatives and friends when they visit CR with them because they have the best fare and the legal documentation and insurance policies.

El Sol Monte Verde Tours & Transfers and Toño Cruz' s family offer transportation and both companies are excellent in every way. They are two different families who drive their own vans and the price is $100 one way from 1 to up to 4 passengers. The advantage with this kind of transportation is that you can stop anywhere you want along the way and their drivers have keen eyes for spotting wildlife as they drive. El Sol company has two vans and the drivers are husband and wife and they both speak English well enough. That along puts them on the top of the list due to the language barrier that limits so many for enjoying those road trips completely when they come.

Prices will change depending on how many people are traveling.

I do not have all phone numbers right this minute but I can find out if you need me too. It is high season so you must get everything arrange ahead of time to make sure there's availability when you visit.

If you may need more assistance about any situation when you visit, don't hesitate to ask.

Have a great 2018!
