Bio Bay Kayak Tour in Fajardo Questions & Answers

Houston

I just booked this tour for next Tuesday for myself, husband and our 17 yr old grandson. I have a couple of questions. My husband is a larger man (260 lbs); is that a problem with the kayaks? We are staying at a hotel in San Juan City Center by the Convention Center and have a car so will be driving to Fajardo but I don't see an address or directions. I read somewhere earlier the parking can be crowded. Any information or advice would be most helpful! Thank you!

Hi there,

For size, they recommend 400 pounds as the maximum weight for 2 people on a kayak, so as long as your husband is paired with someone under 140, it should be fine.

For directions, I was a little concerned about that too. When I made the booking with my tour company (Pure Adventure Puerto Rico), they sent me a really good set of directions that described exactly how to get there. You can find the directions on their website.

For parking, we signed up for the earlier tour (6:00), so there was no problem at that point. We did notice when we left that it was much more crowded, but this was also on a Saturday when there are a lot more people going to the beach. You will probably be fine, just get there early.

One word of caution. Have all of you had some kayak experience? If not, I wouldn't recommend doing this as your first kayaking venture. It is a bit challenging getting through the narrow channel to the bay, and a couple of kayaks in our group did tip over, but they were with people who did not have experience.

Feel free to contact me with any other questions. My wife and I had a great time with the kayaking so I hope you do too!
