What time of year is the best for seeing the eagles?
We went the end of June and saw an adult and a youngster.
Anytime although we saw a limitless number on an October excursion
I never saw any eagles though everyone else did including my husband. We took the ride in September. I imagine they are there all the time but even at that slow pace, they are difficult to see in a moving train, its quite a distance away from the nests.
Linda M gave a better answer than i could.
Eagles in that area lay eggs in early February, so by April they have hatchlings to feed. The parents will be busy fishing and hunting from Spring through late summer so that is the most active period, but even through Fall you can spot eagles in the trough. We took our ride this time in late September and spotted five eagles and one aerie during our ride.
While I cannot answer what is the best time of the year, I can pass along that the afternoon train ride is when the eagles are most active.
My guess would be a Spring afternoon might be a good time of year, especially if you are dressed up warm to ride in the open car to observe the eagles.
