CHUCK'S is open daily, from about 9:00 A.M. until either

5:00 P.M. or possibly 6:00 P.M.

You might call them to make sure.

Again, they are slightly higher in price than the usual

seafood outlet ... but what you get is of the highest

quality.

Only their local Cod is occasionally frozen and then

thawed, but they will tell you this.

All other fish, shellfish, shrimp, oysters (!!) are sparklingly

fresh.

The immediate area around Chuck's is quite compact, and

almost a "one stop for everything" affair.

Next to Chuck's is the Old Town Market, will a full range

of liquor, wine, beers, grocery items, etc., plus an ATM

for withdrawals.

Neither it nor Chuck's accepts American Express ... this,

for your information.

Across the street (the small highway) from Chuck's is

The High Tide Café ... with a wonderful deck to sit on

and eat, having a truly commanding view of the south

part of the Bay and its tides ... see earlier reviews for

The High Tide, as some of its items are very good, and

some merely average ... and immediately next to

The High Tide Café is The Crab Shack ... owned by

a fishing Captain named "Captain Jack", and sometimes

manned by his daughter Jamie ... which is attractive,

but very much 'no frills" and "down to business" ... which is

freshly caught and very much alive and fighting male

Dungeness Crabs, in a large salt water holding tank,

from which you may pick out your choice, and the

staff ... Jamie or Jedediah ("Jed") ... will immediately

take them to the steamer, cook them, clean them,

crack them, and then bring them to your table with

shelling crackers, small meat piks, etc., and lemon and

drawn butter, where you "messily" dive

in with both hands. Very much recommended.

Note: You may also buy any beer or

wine or other drinks you want across the street at the

Old Town Market, and bring them back to The Crab Shack

while your crabs are being cooked and cleaned.

There is no extra charge for your doing so ... you just

make yourself at home ... and be prepared to deal with

the usual but delicious "mess".
