Thanks for your review. I am curious how you reached the resort from Windhoek. Private car? Shuttle? Taxi? Any suggestions would be helpful
Hi Scott. Most people visit le Mirage by car (rented). The road from Windhoek to le Mirage is a beautiful drive. You see the landscape changing all the time. It's also possible to go by a small plane (like a Cesna) and land on the nearby airstrip.
A Shuttle service is possible, but most people make a tour though Namibia. So after le Mirage (and a trip to the Sossusvlei), they go though to for example the coast (Walvisbaai/Swakopmund).
We travelled by bus with a tour group (Discovery by Gate 1). It is about a 6 hour drive from Windhoek airport. The road from Windhoek south to Rehoboth is tarred. After that you are on a a corrugated dirt road. I would NOT recommend doing this trip in a small car. A vehicle with good sturdy tires is probably the best bet for most of the roads in Namibia that are not tarred, which is most of the roads on the western side of the country!
