I am looking at a return trip to SA and am hoping that Tintswalo will be a good fit. I have stayed at Londolozi, which is incredible and my benchmark for future trips, and Kapama, which has amazing game drives but lacks the safari "feel". Specifically, there was at least one large plane which flew overhead daily and a train that was close enough to hear. Also, Kapama is fenced and has cell towers on property, both of which you see on game drives. After the quiet solitude and isolation of Londolozi, we were quite disappointed and distracted by the city-like noise and zoo like feel of Kapama. I don't want to make that mistake again! With that in mind, can you share your thoughts/experiences regarding the ambience of Tinswalo? We are looking for a true wilderness feel while on game drives, both visual and auditory, while still enjoying the pampering and amenities of a 5 star lodge! Thank you!
Hallo Kim,ich bin etwas verspaetet mit meiner Antwort. So sorry for that. Outstanding!
I will not hesitate to recommend Tintswalo. Ask for Alistair as your guide. We flew into and out of the lodge. Landed on the dirt strip. When leaving Alistair had to chase Elephants and Wildebeest off the runway 2-3 times. No planes, no trains, no TV. We spend 5 days there, never wanted to leave.
You will certainly have that experience at Tintswalo. No overhead flights, no railways, you truly are out in the bush but will enjoy the luxury that Tintswalo gives you.
The game drives were spectacular, the lodge itself stunning and the staff, unforgettable!
You won't regret booking here!
Best wishes and happy travels.
I can vouch for Tintswalo! Like you my husband and I have had several safari experiences in Africa. For South Africa Tintswalo is head and shoulders above the rest. The animal viewing was sensational and "real" and the accommodation was outstanding. I don't remember seeing any fences or feeling any outside influences and we were continually "off road" to follow the animals. We are already planning another trip and would not stay anywhere else.
