It is my mom's 80th birthday. She would like to go to a country restaurant with beautiful scenery, good food but not exorbitant prices. Can you please send me a menu with prices, and if possible some photos? Thanking you in advance.
Go to Google: Put in Dam views Restaurants Hartbeespoort. It throws out a nice selection of the best restaurants with their REVIEW SCORES from guests. That is a nice way to narrow it down to what suits you.
I am very envious of you. My Mom's 80th Birthday was my last Birthday with her. She passed away shortly after. So I really hope your day with your Mom is VERY SPECIAL ! Good Luck & Blessings to your Mom !
PS Mount Grace Hotel is also a stunning Hotel & setting for a nice celebration lunch. It is situated slightly higher than the other 2 restaurants so you have Mountain Views. French Toast (Paris style village) on the Schoemansville side of the Dam is also very interesting with Good Food. I hope this helps. Finding a good restaurant with Good views over the Dam is harder. I would rather go for good food as it is a special birthday. Are you specifically looking for Hartbeespoort area only?
Hi sorry but I dont think it is for other travellers to provide you with information that you should be asking the hotel / restaurant for. You are asking other travellers to to the Hotel / Restaurants work for them as if they were an employee. We are there to help you decide if the business is right for your requirements based on our own experience. So we can tell you yes we thought it was great & maybe right for you but not we can't provide you menus etc. That is the businesses job & you should ask them. I can tell you that in that area:
1. The Ou Pastorie is in an old farm house but in good weather you eat outside in the garden & under the trees. Superb food.
2. The Silver Orange (about 10 kms from Ou Pastorie on other side of Hartbeespoort Dam) also in an old farm house serves FINE DINING food (more formal than Ou Pastorie.)
I Love both these restaurants & I would have been happy to take my Mom to either of these.
In most places in South Africa you will pay about R100 - R200 for a main meal (excluding drinks) per person for good food.
Rather pay a bit more for a good restaurant & share meals to bring the price down than settle for bad food.
(Today most restaurants serve meals that are too big so it is easy to share a starter & a main course & a desert.)
Good Luck & Blessed 80th Birthday to your Mom !
