Some people do ask whether they should be concerned about sharks on our trip.

A fair question and something that concerns some customers.

There is of course a risk to anything one does but if there was a reasonable danger of shark encounters we would not do this - indeed it would not even be allowed. The Fish Hoek vicinity is prone to shark activity but not really our area. Also a swimmer in the water is far, far more at risk than a person on a kayak.

While a very few paddlers have seen sharks while paddling in False Bay NONE, ZERO, NADA, NOT A ONE, has EVER been injured by a shark - a kayak is a lot bigger than a man or a seal and not normally a target.

We have had literally thousands of trips and not one customer has encountered a shark.

Statistically there is a higher danger of a your car crashing on the way to paddle than a shark encounter while paddling.

If this helps to set your mind at rest...
