Would you say that you need to be extremely fit or experienced with hiking to do this route? My friend and I have booked this same hike for next weekend and I'm worried that we need more experience to do it!
This hike doesn't require any sort of guide. The trail is easy to see all the way up and even though some sections are steep, you can just take your time. Don't waste money on a "guide".
Hi Suzette S,
I recommend to book directly through Hike Table Mountain website. Riian and Mike are incredibly helpful and will give the appropriate quote for this hike.
If you're reasonably fit and used to hiking, you'll be fine.
Can someone please share with me the contact info of the guide? I was just quoted with a guide + Cape Town city tour of R6608 for x4 people. I thought that was overpriced. We are leaving in 6 weeks.
I will echo the sentiments of Kari C, you will not regret this Hike. I suffer with bad knees and dont like heights, my wife and I would not be terribly fit and she had zero mountain climbing experience. We were put well at ease by our guide and even when we noticed the sign at the start of the track mentioning it was for experienced people only, he reassured us it was only there to dissuade lone walkers and we would be well able. have a great time!
I consider myself semi-fit. I do yoga, barre and cycling regularly - however I'm pretty petite (short legs). There are some portions of the hike that could look rather challenging however- the folks at Hike Table Mountain will definitely make you feel at ease. You won't regret doing this route-the sense of accomplishment at the end of route will leave wanting more...
