Using a driver is the best way no doubt.

I highly recommend DHPL travels. They were half the price of all the drivers we priced. Really cheap and so professional. The driver can be hired your entire trip and he is available when and as you need him. Unlike other companies you do not need to pay his accommodation. It works out about £40 per day unlimited.

Trip advisor won't let me publish the website or contact email address but if you google visitsrilankanow that's their website

They don't have much reviews available as they are fairly new but myself and my husband used them for two weeks. And then my mum and dad on their trip used them and had absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended for value for money!

By car. It would be worth getting a quote from the hotel. There are also private hire companies at the airport. Some may have websites for you to request a quote.

You should be ok with time. It might be a idea to book your transport before you arrive. We used Uber most of the time we were in SL and also there is another group named Pickme in SL. Perhaps you could try them then you will have an idea how much it will cost. Airport is at the western corner of the island and Uga Bay passikudah is at the eastern end of the island. So your journey will cover across the island.

Hi Jeficj, I recommend that you stay one day at a hotel maybe half way as you will be tired from the flight. Then take your coach/car and head to Uga Bay. Then the travel won't be so tiring for you. I recommend an airconditioned van as it is much more comfortable than a car. Believe me, it is far better than a car, unless you want a luxury car, then that will be comfortable. Ask your travel agent to hire a van or car for you which will be at your disposal, or I can recommend a travel agent in SL who can arrange a very good driver and van for you. Hope this advice is of help to you. Regards. Deanna

Hi the best way is via road, but it is a long journey. Traffic is a problem so u can't drive very fast! We opted for the road as we were seeing other sites and planned other stops before pasikudah. There is also an option of a train to Batticaloe and the hotel can pick u up, but the train needs to be booked in advance as the tickets sell out fast! I will definitely try the train option next time we visit. Good luck

s you are arriving here on 4 am, you can get to Uga Bay less than 6hrs. It is better to take taxi from Airport. You can even reserve one now. But, usual checking in time of the hotel is 1400 hrs (as far as I remember). So, there no need to be much hurry.

Uga Bay is in Pasikudah north of Batticaloa. There is no way on earth you can be there in 30 minutes from Colombo, 6 hours sounds about right.

We flew from Columbo to Batticaloa on a seaplane and were driven to Uga Bay from there. The drive took 40 minutes. The flight was 1hr 10mins with stops at Waterside (south Colombo) and Kandi en route. However the flight is daytime (2pm ish) so you'd have to wait and get your head down somewhere. If you want an adventure it is an amazing way to get across the island and more comfortable than 6 hours in a Sri Lankan taxi avoiding potholes and cattle. Other than that you have little choice other than to resign yourself to a long car ride.

Hi. If your hotel is in Colombo, from the airport it will take only 30 min maximum. I am not sure from where you received the information that it takes 6 hrs. That's absolutely incorrect.
