There are a lot of steps, if you have a GPS every channel you have to cross has a small bridge with steps. And there are a lot of tourists in any season, other thing to consider are floods and rains.

I didn't have problem with the GPS (the one from the phOOne).

I think you must consider a Vaporetto.

Enjoy Venezia!

It's very easy to get lost in Venice.

Walking could be much longer than you plan for.

If you were counting on GPS it doesn't work well in a lot of areas.

The Vaporetto could be your fastest and best option in the end.

Sounds to me as tho you are going to board a cruise ship. If so, there are vaporetto (boat buses) that leave directly from the train station to the cruise terminal at San Basilio Pier. Yes, you CAN walk it, but you will probably not be happy...take the vaporetto, it's easy!

Best, easy and cheapest way to get from Santa Lucia train station to the cruise port is to just cross the Calatrava ( big) bridge to piazza LA Roma and then take the people mover train that will take you directly to the cruise port. The cost E1.5.

I would agree with recent thoughts the vaporetta would be your best bet, as there are steps, its always busy with tourists and some of the signs are not clear and then you have to back track and it does not put you in a good mood for the start of your holiday, Have a good one.
