where does the gondola start from, is it near Fairmont? Would there be snow at the base ground level during thanksgiving usually? You open on 22nd November, wondering where the snow is actually.
The Peak 2 Peak Gondola spans between the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain to the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain. Guests are first be required to upload from the valley in the Whistler Village Gondola before loading for the Peak 2 Peak experience. There is snow on-mountain, so bring a pair of boots, but at the moment there isn't any in the Village.
There is a shuttle that runs on a regular schedule from the Fairmont Hotel to the Village. Drop off point is about two blocks from the lift station.
You have to take the Gondola up from the centre of Whistler (or at least we did)
There are two open chairlifts near the Fairmont, You will need to take Merlin's chair halfway up and then the Solar Coaster chair up to where the Peak to Peak station is. The 22nd is the first opening day of the year. Snow near, or in the village is never a sure thing that early in the season, or anytime really. They have their snow making going on if it is cold enough and will usually push as much as they can down near the base. Each year is different. I have been there in January with almost no snow, other seasons it can be really heavy. No sure thing when it comes to skiing, especially early season. The higher you go up both mountains things improve, but there is no way to accurately project what the snowfall is going to be.
The gondola to take you up to the peak2peak ride is near to the Sundail hotel in the village, The P2P gondola is big I suspect it could carry 20 people. We were there in July/August and the views were fabulous, I could imagine with snow on the mountain it’s also fabulous. I would take the ride again.
