All Viking Ocean ships carry a max of 930 passengers (no children under 12) and all staterooms have ocean views. The staterooms are spacious and have loads of storage space. A heated bathroom floor is a special treat. Our recent cruise to New Zealand and Australia was supposed to dock in Sydney, Australia on March 20, but in spite of ports being closed when COVID-19 struck, we got special permission to dock in Melbourne on March 16. That night Viking was able to secure plane reservations for 700+ passengers. By 6:00 am next morning, we were on the way to the Melbourne Airport. Viking takes care of its passengers!

We were on the Viking Orion starting March 6th. Their sanitary measures and cleaning were extordinary and we felot very safe and well taken care of. We had just left port in New Zealand headed for Austalia when Australia announced it was closing its ports. Our cruise was basically ending on March 15 with 5 days to go. Nonetheless, Viking continued their usually stallar service and kept us all informed as to what the plan was. We wound up docking in Melbourne on March 16th. Viking got the 700+ passengers through Australia customs, rebooked on flights back "home", and arranged transportation to the airport so that we were all off the ship by the morning of March 17th. An unbelievable task that was done with grace and calm. Guest Services and Viking Travel had to be stressed beyond imagination, but I never saw anyone loose their calm and efficient demeanor. Thank you Viking for being THE BEST. We will be cruising again when all this is over.

A 5 star hotel on the ocean. Friendly staff, excellent speakers, great food and very good shore excursions included.

This is our 3rd Viking cruise and 11 total cruises. Viking Orion was the best! The crew was very friendly, helpful and talented. We love that all of the ocean Viking ships are laid out the same so you do not get lost. Only 930 passenger makes it more relaxing and friendly. And, it can get into many small ports where the mega ships cannot . Then you don't have to fight the big crowds.

We just finished the 15-day Sydney, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand on the Viking Orion. First what a beautiful ship with a great crew. We loved the included excursions and upgraded in Christ Church to the Lord of the Rings tour (highly recommend but need to book the first day the excursions open up). Only real issue was cruising from Tasmania to New Zealand (across the Tasman Sea) the ship was rocking and rolling quite a bit. Didn't bother us but some people were more susceptible to the movements. Loved this cruise!
