The highlight of the cruise is the ship itself - a pleasant sailing holiday resort. It satisfied my desire to see a number of different places (the scenic delights of Kotor and Montenegro, an unscheduled trip to Olympia and the chance to see the ancient birthplace of a great sporting festival, the calming surroundings of Argostoli and a chance to revisit Athens) while appealing to my wife's wishes to lounge in the sun and soak in the swimming pool. It was also good to make use of the sauna, do some karaoke and enjoy the very amiable performer in the piano bar afterwards. These things all paled in comparison, though, to the food which was excellent and the staff who were very helpful. That is not to say that things could not have been better. The choice of beers was poor while the entertainment and activities seemed a little bit naff for my liking. Though when you're trying to cater for all tastes, then I guess that's unavoidable. As I mentioned, being on a cruise is much like being at a family holiday resort. My major issue, though, came after the cruise. And it completely overshadowed my experience. I went from fully expecting to go on another cruise with Royal Carribean in the next couple of years and following up with others to vowing never to go with this company ever again. That's what is most disappointing. Going from having a high opinion of a company to feeling completely let down and alienated. This reversal centred around how Royal Carribean charged gratuities and the subsequent way they have refused to take any responsibility for the situation I was left in. There I was in Rome on the last day of my honeymoon which had also incorporated the cruise and a couple of nights in Venice. I go to make a payment at a bar near the Coliseum. Declined. How odd as I 'd transferred a good sum of money into the account last night. I try again. Declined again. 3rd time lucky? No, 3rd time declined. So I check my account. A large amount has just been taken by Royal Carribean. I immediately think fraud. Panic. Desperate phone calls to Royal Carribean, then the bank to get to the bottom of the situation though not resolve it. It takes a couple of hours and has ruined the last day of my honeymoon. So, what was the issue? Every day while on the cruise, I had been monitoring my account for what was being charged. Each day my card was charged for the gratuities as expected. Well, except for one day when I was completely overcharged but this was quickly resolved and addressed for the next day. In essence, I leave the ship having been charged each day for gratuities and I believe that's the end of it. The amounts have not left my account but they are showing as pending and effectively I cannot access the funds. No problem. I am happy with the charges and accept that the money will leave my account in the way it normally does. Royal Carribean will take the money and the pending charges will become debits to my account. This, though, turns out be a wrong assumption. 4 days after leaving the cruise ship, Royal Carribean charge my card again for the combined amount ($203) while the other pending charges remain (totalling $203). This means that I am effectively deprived of $406 when I only owe $203. It's all very well that I will eventually be able to access the $203 worth of pending charge. However, at this very moment I don't. And it turns out that this money does not all become available on my account until 2 weeks later! Which means I am out of pocket for 2 weeks! In the heat of the moment, of course, it is not obvious that all the pending charges add up to the amount Royal Carribean have taken. So I am in panic that a member of staff has accessed my details and is trying to do a number. Turns out it's just a very flawed way of charging for gratuities. Rather than access the funds due via those pending charges as every company I have ever known has, Royal Carribean leave these charges pending (and in the banking world ether) and charge again but taking the money this time. Meanwhile I am left to try and persuade my bank to let me access the $203 of pending charges funds on account that Royal Carribean won't take the money. I give up, though, as the bank insist they need the confirmation from Royal Carribean and as I've wasted enough time and I'm in a foreign city, I end up having to transfer funds from another account so I can get through my last day on honeymoon and then home. The situation was not resolved, as I mentioned, until 2 weeks later, when the last of the pending charges dropped from my account. I felt I should raise this with Royal Carribean. It seemed a completely unavoidable situation and I felt reasonably confident, given the positive experience I'd had on board, that Royal Carribean would see their role in situation and provide redress. This I outlined with reference to: embarrassment at payment by card being repeatedly declined; disruption to the last day of honeymoon, spending 2 hours making phone calls to get to the bottom of the situation; distress caused by the fact that I believed I had been the victim of fraud; inconvenience caused by having to make arrangements for money to be transferred from another account; being deprived of money which was not owed to anyone and having to wait around 2 weeks for all of it to be returned to my account. The response? Royal Carribean took no responsibility despite repeated escalations. They hid behind terms and conditions and reiterated their policy on charging gratuities. Completely they missed the point. They made it clear that they did not care. They do not value me as a customer and so from having potentially having a customer for life they now have someone who will never be their customer again. All it would have taken to avoid this was Royal Carribean accepting some responsibility, offering redress and taking steps to reassure that customers in future will not be put in such a situation too. Instead, they did none of that. And to add insult to injury, I had called Royal Carribean in advance of the cruise seeking to prepay gratuities while also clarifying some other matters. The person on the other end of the line assured me this would be sorted. It wasn't. At the time, I let it go. But when I raised this point of trying to prepay gratuities (which would have prevented the whole debacle), I was told there was no record and effectively accused of lying. Effectively, I was told that if I had requested to pre-pay it would have been done. All very disappointing.

Took this cruise with a co worker and our boss. She graciously gave myself and my co worker this cruise as a gift. Ports were wonderful could not ask for more Croatia Montenegro, Greece, Italy all wonderful. We had great weather it was sunny and very hot balcony was excellent woke up each morning either at sea or in port ready to start another wonderful day. Staff were wonderful all so friendly and helpful. Our waiters always had great tips for each port at dinner. The gym was good the poos was a bit crowded but that was ok. My co worker enjoyed the walking track and the rock wall. The buffet was great tons of selection and always hot food. Restaurant food was also really good. Never even thought about the pay restaurants that were also options. My only issue with the cruise was myself and co worker were in our balcony suite and my boss was put in a room three decks lower and opposite end of the boat which was not ideal. I had asked numerous times and advised our booking agent to ensure we were very close to one another but this was never taken into consideration. This did make a huge impact on the overall experience. I asked agent when booking and paying for cruise she said should not be a problem then I asked upon check in at Venice terminal they said check at 5pm after everyone has checked in they should be able to help us then. Checked at 5pm got oh sorry all full can’t change now. I really wish my instructions and requests had been taken seriously three women travelling alone one should not be left on her own separated from travel companions. Cruise ports, food, boat and staff all excellent, ability to place guests close together when travelling together in more than one room - fail.

We had booked our cruise on the Rhapsody of the Seas for a sailing date of June 6th 2020. Although this sailing has not yet been cancelled due to COVID-19, we have voluntarily decided to cancel our trip. This review is for the customer service staff who all deserve 5 stars and a huge THANK YOU for their patience, professionalism and overall spirit of hospitality. I have been on the phone with their help line twice in relation to this cancellation and both experiences were seamless with less of a wait time than expected. Each time the representative was informative, helpful and reassuring. A huge thanks to all of those in the cruise industry who are dealing directly with the fallout of the current situation. Royal Caribbean should be proud of their staff and associates. What we do in times of hardship speaks volumes and because of this customer service experience we will be rebooking on RC!

My 7yo son and I left from Tampa on this ship. The staff was very friendly. The boat is showing her age and definitely needs some work. Our cabin was 3615. It was laid out good for the space but had a strong sewage odor too often. At the bar next to the pool, you could order the same drink and it would be rang up for a different amount each time. Very frustrating. My son thought the kids club was ok. There was ping pong and shuffleboard but sometimes the paddles were missing. The pool was pretty chilly believe it or not. I picked this cruise because of the stops. Honduras was my favorite. I have cruised RC before and would again but not this boat in the future.

The ship is dated, we had a balcony room on deck 7, room was spacious and well cleaned. We went with a party of 14 thought finding sun chairs would be difficult but we were able to find chairs together. There were 3 comedians on this cruise two were great, one was struggling. The staff from our room stewardess, casino staff, dining room staff and bar staff were great. Warning for the non smokers the casino gets really smoky, sometimes unbearable. Food was average.
