Went on the Rome-Greece-Rome 10 day cruise this past week. We have cruised Royal, Carnival and Princess in the past and this was our first try with Norwegian. Before I say anything - first and foremost their staff is not the problem, they were professional and very eager to make sure you were enjoying yourself. What I didn't prefer was their bathroom arrangement in the rooms (the toilet and shower were separate, but if you like privacy for sound - this is not it), there is practically NO shade on this boat and many times they picked up the chairs on the Sundeck except for those in the very front and the back (but 90% were in the sun). There are not other quiet places to sit outside if you want shade. The coffee was terrible and if you really love it like me, it was a hard thing to muster for 10 days - yes there is a Starbucks, but you pay for it and wait a long time for it. Entertainment was ok - loved Howl at the Moon which I thought was the best music there. Excursions and a port with excursions were cancelled due to wind and port filling up - not their fault, just letting you know it may happen (Mykonos and Malta). Our steward told us that this ship isn't like the other ones, so if we do another Norwegian, it won't be on this ship.

We took the Epic on a repositioning cruise from Florida to Rome, sailing on April 7, 2024. Dissatisfied! The WiFi is advertised on the “Freestyle Daily” as “..available bow to stern”. We were in cabin 9090 and couldn’t get WiFi inside the cabin. Of course, to discover this fault took three trips in line totaling about two hours. We were told to leave our cabin door open!! Yikes! Wasted $500.00 plus dollars. Also, the lines to get anything were horrible. Even boarding was about an hour and half. We missed our first port of call for the UK Rock of Gibraltar due to engine problems. Instead, a poor tour in Spain before Rome.

We just got back from a cruise to the Greek Isle and Italy on the Norwegian Epic. This was not a good experience. The BEST part of the cruise was our Cabin Steward, who was absolutely amazing. We also loved the enthusiasm of the "washy washy" people as you entered the dining areas. That gave us an encouraging feeling about sanitation. The WORST thing about our experience was the 'boss lady' in the Manhattan Dining Room. She was so openly rude to her staff, loudly scolding them and even clapping at them to get them to do something. It was very uncomfortable. The onboard staff is the best part of the Epic ship, and they seemed greatly underappreciated. The other very upsetting part of the cruise was the horrible food in the dining rooms. Even the sit down breakfast was really lacking in choices so we finally just ate all breakfasts at the buffet. There were no lunch sit down options except one of the bars, which was very mediocre food and not prepared well at all. Dinner options on other cruise lines have ALWAYS included shrimp cocktail, filet, salmon, etc. I felt like we were eating at Denny's. I brought a group with me who had never cruised before and had to keep apologizing for the food. We had to have maintenance come in because the room was not in great shape with broken drawers, etc. The maintenance manager was down right rude - like my concerns were a total bother. If you do travel on the Epic, make sure to see the dance show called "Burn the Floor". There was also one other singing Duo that was great. But the other singers were off-key and sounded like they had been hired them from a Karaoke bar. Our group had several professional musicians and that was a great disappointment. We also found the entertainment options crowded together so those of us who don't burn the midnight oil missed quite a few options. Last very bad part of this trip was that a few weeks before the cruise we got notice that one of our ports of call - Corfu - was being changed to a small fishing village. After some research we found this port has been consistently canceled for over a year due to costs, so there is definitely false advertising. I tried calling and writing a complaint and our concerns were totally ignored.

The Epic is the worst designed ship ever set afloat. A shower curtain separates the beds from the bathrooms. All venues too small to handle crowds. Poor planning on events and the locations they were held. Often could not get into venue due to over crowding. NCL should try to get their money back from the designer of this ship.

this was our 3rd time on EPIC. 15th cruise in total so we are 'seasoned' cruisers. The entertainment is always brilliant on NCL and the EPIC certainly delivers. Superb shows and great bars onboard whether you are looking for a lively bar or a quiet pre-dinner drinks bar. Food is amazing - the speciality restaurants always serve 1st class food with attentive staff. NLC's free at sea and dining packages are worth every penny.
