This was our first ever sea cruise and we were not disappointed but the experience overall was - done it, not in a hurry to repeat it - Benidorm at sea. There was nothing wrong with it, it just didn't suit us. The service was excellent and the food and presentation was very good - no complaints. Special mention to the two waiters serving outside at the Squid & Anchor, Ermile & Rayne (spelling?) who were super efficient and entertaining. The only complaint was the day at sea. Being our first ever sea cruise we weren't aware what this entailed i.e. loungers must not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes or property would be removed and dumped at reception. This meant that having been for breakfast we returned to our loungers to find that we had been evicted and our property had been dumped unceremoniously in a huge pile, along with other peoples property, on the floor at reception. Not good. Like I said, been there, done it.

Had a holiday on this ship January 26th this year,we have been on lots of cruises but never to the Caribbean. The Explorer 2 was probably the largest ship we had been on so couldn’t wait to try her out. We had an inside cabin because we only booked nine days before we traveled and all outside and balcony cabins had gone, the cabin was very spacious and comfortable and we had no problems at all. I’ve read a few reviews with negative opinions about Market Place food but we found it to be very good and always fresh and hot plus there’s always several options for food on the pool deck and main restaurants. Entertainment for us was great we loved everything from the daily quizzes through to karaoke or silent discos. The shows in the theatre and visiting artistes were exceptional. The islands of the Caribbean are glorious albeit apart from a few localised areas they all looked the same,we got taxis on most of the islands for a fraction of the cruise price and all the drivers were wonderful and knowledgeable about their home island. The all inclusive drinks package is brill, I like cider myself so was well made up with draught Strongbow available but the bottle beers you could get from several mobile bars was also good serving corona,San Miguel ,peroni, red stripe to name a few. We never had a problem finding deck chairs or seats on deck the whole fortnight.overall a great holiday and hopefully we will return next January

We travelled as two couples on this cruise, 14 nights of shear luxury, It was our first cruise but all of us are very well travelled and we are very open minded when we travel, We flew from Cardiff to Barbados with TUI in premium economy and the crew were very attentive and worked non stop through out the flight, I guess the check in is the norm when arriving at the port , IE, passport control, cabin cards given to you, pictures taken and cards registered, credit card registered to cabin, Just a thing to remember there is no cash purchases on board its all charged to your cabin/ credit card, We upgraded the drinks package as not to get any suprise bills at the end of our cruise, You will not get board with the food as the selection is very good and there is a large selection of resturants to chose from, The alcohol on the premium upgrade was very good , Every member of staff from embarking to our final disembark were totaly respectful and outstanding, We watched the broardway shows most evenings, The entertainment team left us speechless, They worked VERY VERY HARD for there money and were brilliant, I would even say that we would pay to watch some of there shows back home in a theatre, The waiters even remembered your names and cabin numbers , and also these Guys work non stop , Thank you to Rene and Rain just to mention a couple of the team, Back to our cabin, we had an outside cabin number 8010 , forward of the ship, The cabin was a very good size and we were impressed over all, The cabin staff were again outstanding, Maximo and his team were brilliant, everything every day was spottless and we were well looked after, This review could go on for ever as iv so much to say, If you are thinking of booking, DO IT, If you have any questions please ask, On of the things i must mention is this liner was spottles, Sanitizer stations are everywhere, It is constantly being cleaned, We are thinking of doing another one due to the fantastic time that we had, Thanks to all on the Explorer 2, You made our holiday

This was our first sea cruise and not sure of what to expect. Last minute booking was probably the reason why we ended up in a cabin meant for a disabled passenger, bigger than the standard cabin. Find it difficult to find fault, the house-keeping, restaurants, food and service was excellent, entertainment a good standard. Well organised from start to finish.

Paradise Islands and Tropical Delights were our itineries. We loved every minute. Everything was so well organised, cabin 1012 was in a good position very clean and maintained twice a day. The whole ship was spotless and cleaners working all the time. Every single member of staff was friendly and spoke as you passed. Food was good, available all the time at a selection of places, buffet style or table service whichever you preferred. No set dining so free to do as you please. The shows in the Broadway Show lounge were brilliant very talented actors/ singers. Squid and Anchor was always good fun, some of the quizzes may not have been to everyones taste but there were alternatives. Good selection of drinks available. Ports of call were all good, we did someTUI trips some better value than others and a few times we organised our own or just walked around ports. Kabir the cruise director was so much fun, Captain Richard was also very visible about the ship and happy to chat. Pool decks do get crowded on sea days but this is to be expected. Odd times on the ship as the far east cruises got cancelled mid way through our cruise and the next cruise to us was cancelled the day before due to the Coronavirus. Given that the staff found out just before we had the announcement, they dealt with it brilliantly and are a credit to TUI and Marella. We will definitely cruise with Marella again.
