Read the reviews before we went and was ever so slightly worried at some of the negative ones but as always we wanted to experience it for ourselves and to make our own minds up. We first booked in 2019 for 2020 but obviously that was cancelled so we rebooked for 2021 but that was cancelled too. Left it for a few years before deciding in Jan 2024 to try again. We are so glad we did as we had the most fabulous time ever! Everything was perfect and I can’t praise the bar staff, cleaners, waiters, chefs...indeed everyone enough. They were all brilliant, polite, happy, and helpful. As for the entertainment it was the best we’ve ever seen on any holiday and we both loved every main show (the abba one was exceptional!) and all the smaller acts around the ship (George the singer/pianist in the live room was great!). Our cabin was a good size, and the views magical (see Mount Vesuvius in photo!). Ok, the balcony window and frame could do with a bit of a makeover and newer sunbeds would be good, but they really were the only minor niggles and we’re not dropping a star for that. Must add we were in cabin 8554 and the three guys who cleaned our room and left the towel animal figures every day were all lovely and a real credit to Marella/TUI. Surprised at any negative food reviews as we found it hot, plentiful, and tasty. The main restaurants serving three course meals with waiter service was particularly good. From an organisational point of view everything was excellent including the great excursions whilst all the guests we met were lovely and we had a great time with them. Theres so much to do and so many places to sit, eat, drink, and just watch the world go by. We both wish we'd done one long before and can’t wait for next year (it'll either be a summer cruise to Greece or a winter cruise to West Indies!). If I could offer some simple advice it would be this: • You really don’t need the premium drinks package and we won’t get it next time. • We did four excursions on the bounce and that was possibly too much as it means early starts and lots of coach travelling etc. Think next time we’d look at going on one then having the next day on the ship. That said we had to do three of the excursions as they were places we were desperate to see (Pompeii, Pisa, and Monte Carlo/Monaco. • If you’re claustrophobic, and/or don’t like air-con you’ll need an outside/balcony cabin. Appreciate the extra cost involved but it makes a big difference and the balcony doors left open at night means you won’t need the air con. • Don’t forget your passports if you go on any excursion unless specifically told not to (we did!!!!). • In all fairness I should mention the WI-FI. It’s not cheap but it is essential when you’re at sea. If you can just buy a £40 package (x2), use sparingly, and wait until you’ve docked or you’re near land where you can use 5G again (making sure to contact your phone supplier to make sure you’re set up accordingly!). Totally understand our experience will be different to everyone else’s but we just can’t fault TUI/Marella at all and we’re already looking forward to our next cruise.

Experience overall - New digital system in place for drinks orders so there were a few delays as staff scan your card for everything apart from food but it didn’t bother us. Staff did their best and were apologetic if any delays. - App to report any issues, see what’s happening onboard and for excursions. Useful but kept disconnecting so I had to look for the info multiple times. - On board WiFi is expensive so we didn’t use it. Paid EE’s daily charge when docked. Ship - Always clean and tidy. - Something for everyone including jigsaws and games. Staff - Polite and friendly, always saying hello. - Get the feeling that no ask is too much. - Special mention to Allan on housekeeping, he was great! Food - Good variety and different places on the boat to get food with a choice of sit down served meals or help yourself snacks. Drinks - Cocktails were strong from some bars, try a couple as they make them slightly differently. - We upgraded to the premium drinks package but probably could have done without to be honest, it depends what drink you like. Room - Upgraded to a balcony room (room no. 6122) at the back of the ship to avoid noise and get a bigger balcony. We are definitely glad we did it. - Chair with matching foot rest with room to move around. - Peaceful relaxation with a view of the open sea. - Plenty of space for the bed, sofa and coffee table. - Powerful hairdryer in drawer. - In the shower there is one dispenser with hair and body wash in. Didn’t use on hair as I brought my own but might be useful for some travelling lighter. - Outdated but apparently getting an uplift soon my partner says. - Toilet issues! Apparently people don’t understand the phrase “please don’t flush any wipes as it causes blockages”. Either that or it was just an excuse that their toilet system is rubbish. The engineers were quick to sort it every time we reported it though (which was about 7 times!). - Bedding was slightly stained. - Glass on balcony needed cleaning. Excursions - Corsica - we didn’t book an excursion as they were sold out by the time we booked. We wandered around near the dock looking at the buildings and shops which was still nice. Some people who booked said it was absolutely beautiful so might be worth booking one if you’re going! - Rome on your own 10 hours - 1.5 to get there and then 1.5 to get back but we got round most of the main things and did a lot of walking. Got a map on the bus with some tips which was nice. - Pisa - nice trip out. - St Tropez - we had a great tour guide but the cruise staff had to rearrange our excursion due to a tender issue on board so you likely won’t have the same tour guide we did. We ended up docking at Tulon and not St Raphael. Not ideal but they were fast to make arrangements for us. - Barcelona - We just did the hop on hop off bus which was great and we got round everything in time. Would have liked to have gone to Park Güell but we had to choose from that and looking at everything else in Barcelona. Would have been better if the Park Güell excursion was 9am instead of 12pm so that people could go around Barcelona too. - You had to buy ice cream on board even if you had the premium package so we got an ice cream at each place we docked at instead. We think Rome had the nicest ice cream! Entertainment - Variety of entertainment and they do the same show twice a night so you can catch either, or both! Potentially helpful details - Can take straighteners on board. - They offer a clothes clean and pressed service for a charge, around £2.50 for cleaning and £1.50 for pressing per item. Also offer same day, +50% of charge. I used it once and it was very handy. - Bring some layers, the outside areas can get chilly because of the wind. For the ladies, people wore all sorts from a smart shirt over the outfit, something that covers the shoulder and some even brought fleeces!

Firstly i have to thank Ronald cabin crew, Jo and Wei, bar waiters, nothing was too much trouble , worked for hours on end. Next the shows every night where amazing and made the holiday for me. What can i say about the windowless cell we lived in for 2 weeks, can't turn aircon off, I got chest infection with it, it had a double bed which meant you couldn't get in without bruising your leg, Ronald changed this for us into 2 singles within an hour. The card you have to link to your own bank card is a rip off. you don't pay until you leave the ship at todays rate so the trips and anything you buy in the ships shop are charged a great deal more when taken in sterling, that's a nice little earner they have going there. The night time bars are so busy you have to endlessly walk round looking for a table, I thought a cruise was relaxing, not so this was my first and last time, don't forget to keep asking if your drinks are not premium or you will be charged. If you have already booked have a lovely time just remember that little 10 euro bag will cost a lot more when taken out of your bank account at home.

Where to begin...can I just say first how awesome Jun Jun was who looked after our room in the end and Lyn who was the manager of customer services, who dealt with the cabin cleanliness! The staff in general were polite and helpful apart from the receptionists, who were rude and didn't want to listen to anything we said. The room Was set up with a double bed when there was 3 of us staying, so they had to rearrange the room. We came back to have a nap and get ready at 7pm and noticed the bedding was disgustingly dirty, which in fairness that got sorted after making 3 phone calls, they cleaned and disinfected the whole room. So by the time this had been done, it was 8.30pm and we had been on the run since 3am that morning. We were meant to be all inclusive but we were never told not everything was covered, unless you were premium, so stuff like cappuccinos, skewers and gin were not included etc. Which is a joke. So when you pay £3600 for a week and then get lumbered with a £460 bill at the end was a joke! The entertainment was good! But the food was terrible, luke warm and tasteless. We had to argue the WiFi to be taken off the bill, as it was agreed to be covered by lyn from the state of our room. The WiFi was very expensive and so hit and miss and hardly ever got any of the WiFi in the room. Which is very annoying when you are needing to receive emergency calls. The ship docks so far away from everywhere, so all you seem to do is run around like a fools everyday, which we nearly missed getting back on the ship! They froze our card at one point, as we didn't put a card behind with reception, I'm not being funny, where are we going to go in the middle of the ocean! We couldn't go to the lining tower, as it would have been 5hr round trip. They could of had more choices of soft drinks, like fresh orange juice, different fizzy drinks and j20 etc, as there is only so much coke you can drink! We asked if we could have the Airton in the room to be turned off, as I got very ill from it, but they said it isn't possible! The rooms are not inviting and very box like. The swimming pools don't get cleaned and they are tiny!! We will never be going on another cruise again, 1st and last time!

This was our first cruise so unsure about how it would be. But it exceeded all our expectations, from the moment we set foot onboard we were made welcome. All staff were very happy and attentive always time for a chat . The bar staff in all bars were quick in getting us drinks and never had to wait long for a drink special mention to the guys in the Atrium bar. Food in all restaurants was amazing, something for everyone. Special shout out to Heri in Gallery 47° ( Italian) we dined here a couple of times. We had the carbonara prepared at the table (extra charge) but worth it. Thanks Heri you’re a star . Also Moh Moh in 47° food here was very good and your glasses of wine and water were always topped up by the staff, such a lovely lady always a smile when she greeted us. Also shout out to Mark who worked with Moh Moh . A BIG shout out to the cabin stewards for our room 7054. II)Ian.F, Vinu and Lazlie who kept out cabin clean and tidy. Loved the animals you made for us with the towels. The chocolates were a treat. You all work so hard but with a smile. And have time for a chat. The entertainment team put on an amazing show twice every evening, The greatest, about an Irish bar was brilliant. Our favourite. So much to do every day from quizzes to shows live groups loved the silent disco so much fun. Shout out to the photography team we love our Iris photo thanks Chris Brown. Thanks Marella for making our first cruise so amazing we will be back .
