This past January my husband and I boarded Koningsdam for the second time in two years. We decided to take a longer trip- 21 days on two back to back cruises to different locations in the Caribbean. We weren't sure if 21 days would be too much. We had the same stateroom for the entire trip which added to the enjoyment. Well, we would have happily stayed on board for another 21 days. Our stateroom stewards were beyond compare. The crew was, as always, happy and friendly. The food, wonderful. The music in the BB King's Lounge right up our alley! And the connection with other passengers, especially those who were also on board for the same 21 days was really special. It breaks our hearts to see the impact of COVID-19 on the travel industry, especially the cruises. And we're going to do everything we can to support Holland America when it's up and running again!

Except for the lack of a window, the inside cabin was very similar to all other cabin types. It was tight but adequate with lots of well thought out storage and a great bath with shower. A lot of good planning went into the room design. That exact same bath and storage seems to be standard with most cabin types. The queen bed had about 18" on the sides and maybe 24" between the foot and the TV wall. I found the (32"?) TV an reasonable alternate "window" with a choice of front or rear views. It seemed to be 1080i...4K would have been even better. There are ports on the back of the TV for HDMI and USB but the remote didn't have any apparent way to access those ports, so I didn't try. Compared to the Zaandam old TV's, this was way better! My cabin on deck 7 was very quiet all times of the day. As the COVID 19 spread around the world, it was dissapointing just how little serious guidance was given to passengers. The Lido was changed to serve from self serve. They recommended we stay 6 feet from someone caughing but few tips for those doing the caughing. Some were still caughing with no protection for others or only into their now unwashed hand. (Hard to change old habits.) They did station someone at each of the hand washing/sanitizing stations to strongly encourage everyone to use them as they passed. No masks were ever seen. For anyone interested in the Koningsdam from March 4, 2020 to at least April 1st, the cruise director, Christine LaVonna, has a Facebook page that a Google search of her name will find. She has many interesting updates. It does appear the claims of "healthy ship" made during our cruise are still true 14 days after my cruise ended. I wish HAL did a better job of keeping us informed of all details including positive ones like this!

We booked a inside cabin and thought it was smaller than inside cabins on other ships. But it worked just fine. The bathroom shower was awesome. Roomy and lots of high pressure and hot water. Best part of the room. The ship is newer so everything was in good shape. But the best part was the staff. You never passed a staff person without them saying hello or something nice. Great service top to bottom. The food was great. Both the dining room and buffet. We have been on ships where the buffet is just ok. But we were very pleased with the Lido Market. Try the hambugers from the poolsde cafe. Best ever, go early as the line will build.

I just got back from a 10 day cruise. My first cruise with Holland America. I have dairy and sugar allergies. I was concerned. I ate very well in sit down dining. I pre-ordered dinner for each night. Flavor amazing! Nothing just steamed or bland. Excellent quality and perfect portions. I also found I could eat on the Lido deck as well with zero problems. The staff took great care regarding food allergies. They did not disappoint! Mid ship is where our balcony (partially obstructed) cabin was. We felt very little of the rocking as we had some hours of seas. The ship is electric so did not have a lot of engine noise. Beds were comfortable and cabin crew was awesome! Made some of the most unique towel animals... got a monkey one night! Cabin size was great and shower had really good water pressure. Storage was also good. Ship is only about 3 years old. It’s new and is well kept and clean. There were 2 salt water pools and plenty of sun space. The spa was average but pricy.Suggest waiting for daily deals if your interested in spa. Steam room was the best. They have a large 1 and a smaller 1.. didn’t have to share with others. **I spoke with phone rep to get my internet plan. I needed to work for a couple of hours during my cruise. I requested a private internet connection. I was assured of that for 143.99 for 10 days. I arrive on ship to learn it’s a public WiFi and it’s not possible for private. So, no way for me to do payroll or pay taxes!! I spoke with the guy over that (his name was on my internet purchase latter & instructions) and he was not concerned with the mistake made by phone rep. He was not concerned with my predicament either. He never even apologized for the mistake or the inconvenience!!! Had to scramble to figure out a solution. 1) Don’t think what phone rep says as the gospel 2) Don’t expect empathy if they screw up something!

My wife and me sailed on two back-to-back cruises on Holland America's Koningsdam out of Fort Lauderdale for a total of 21 days. What a great time. We wanted to get away from the New England winter for a few weeks and enjoy some warm weather and these cruises did not disappoint. The ship and the accommodations could not have been better. The staff was phenomenal. Here are my gripes. Pick up at the airport was a little disorganized BUT it was Super Bowl Sunday. So I give them a pass. My real disappointment was in the main dining room. Staff was great but it became quickly apparent that HAL was beginning to cut some corners when it came to the quality of the food. We ate two dinners there and were disappointed both times. The one meal I remember was a steak. It was so tough I did not finish it. After that we only ate in specialty restaurants and they were all great. The main dining room for breakfast was perfectly acceptable. Would I cruise with Holland America again? You bet. We were already scheduled for an Alaska cruise and just recently reserved passage on a trip to South America and another to Greece. FYI, HAL is an older persons cruise line. There are no mini golf courses, no water slides or rock climbing but they really go out of their way to take care of their passengers. Most dangerous aspect is possibly being bumped by a senior on an electric scooter. LOL
