The ship is beautiful and most of the staff great. But it seemed poorly managed to me. I think almost every aspect could be improved. Food. I would give an 8 out of 10. All the a-la-carte restaurants except one are extra dollars. The buffet is quite good and that is where we went most nights. There was always a roast of meat e.g. pork, ham or turkey. The pork was usually tough. But there was a good selection of other dishes, some of which were excellent. The desserts were disappointing. They looked good but generally did not taste good. Usually there was one fairly good dessert if you could find it. One day, they had blueberries and raspberries which we loved. My biggest complaint is they close the main breakfast area in the buffet at 10:00. There is still a small area with limited selections open until 11:00. We are on vacation. Why are you rushing us out of bed, Celebrity? Entertainment. I would give 4 out of 10. Definitely disappointing. We only enjoyed one of the theatre shows. There were two house bands who played mostly sleepy music from the 1940's and 60's. The best night was the Abba sing-along night. A lot of fun. Excursions. I would give 4 out of 10. They need to introduce some fun to these excursions. When they did stop somewhere interesting, an extra 10 or 15 minutes would have made a big difference. We were always rushing e.g. to get in line for the bathroom and get back to the bus. At Eze France, we wanted to buy perfume but didn't have time. One of our excursions took us to Monaco. Probably the only time I will ever get there. But we didn't even get a glimpse of the casino or palace. The one excursion we really enjoyed was the trip to the Tuscan farmhouse. After I got home, I looked up a company that provides private excursions. Some looked better and cheaper to me. But that company said they could not pick up at the cruise terminal. WiFi. The Basic WiFi package is very limited. No pictures or voice. It is quite expensive to upgrade. Announcements and Communications. 4 out of 10. We almost never heard announcements. We didn't know until about day 3 that you have to have your t.v. turned on to a certain channel at a certain time. And even then, we missed most announcements. They should be available on a t.v. channel all the time. We weren't told about many things e.g. the master light switch in the room and the USB port behind the t.v. (by the way, bring a splitter to give yourself more electrical outlets and USB ports). They deliver a bulletin to your room every evening and we learned after a while it is important to read it thoroughly. Leaving the Ship. This was a big mess. The cruise ended at the cruise terminal quite far from Rome. We wanted to get to our hotel in downtown Rome. Celebrity staff announced that there are very few taxis at the terminal so when I went to book a Celebrity bus transfer to Rome, I was told by Guest Relations that they were sold out. I said "What are you going to do? Just dump us at a distant cruise terminal with no taxis and not provide any transportation for your customers?" They said sorry but yes. This is really bad on the part of Celebrity. It created a very stressful situation. I went back to our room and booked a private transfer but I didn't realize they weren't authorized to come on the property of the cruise terminal so that caused a big problem as well. It turns out there were in fact several taxis but I had already paid over $200 for this private transfer which wasn't showing up. After several emergency phone calls and asking people to speak in Italian for us, we found out where our private transfer was waiting and got a shuttle over there. But Celebrity, you could have been much more helpful. This stressful situation was not the way to end the holiday we had been looking forward to so much. Staff. In general, the staff were friendly. Our stateroom attendant was very, very good.

Nice ship, great food, great staff and service, but ends up being a company we can't use any more. We put a deposit down (we were told) for a future cruise only to learn it's arriving in the form of an onboard credit and not a deposit. So the Equinox future cruise department misled us. That money was a complete gift to them. Not happy finding that out it tainted our opinion.

I will not mention the name of the retreat host we had for our suite on this cruise but the person in question made an already great cruise so much more enjoyable. It's the little touches that make the experience outstanding. The lady in question found out early on what we liked to do, what we liked to eat and what we liked to drink and made sure that every day we had fresh melon (our daughter loves it), fresh orange juice (for me), diet coke (for my wife) and caffeine free diet coke (for my daughter). Our suite was immaculate and well maintained. I can't describe how clean the room was. All the furniture must have been recently replaced as all looked brand new. Because three of us went on this cruise, I gave the bedroom up to my wife and daughter and I slept in the living room and because the suite had one and a half bathrooms it meant I could get up in the middle of the night (I’m getting old) and not wake up anybody else. The sofa bed was remarkably comfortable, I had no problems with sleep. During this cruise Celebrity offered in-room childcare which I used on many occasions. It's a brilliant service and my daughter looked forward to it. They gave us a phone that we could use to talk to her at any point (and vice-versa) so we could go out for a late night with no concerns about our daughter’s safety. I recommend, if the in-room childcare is available and you have a young child with you that you use this service. Now for the restaurants. We tried every restaurant onboard (apart from Blu). We did not enjoy "le petit chef" and found the food to be mediocre at best. We tried the chefs table and yet again didn't find the food to be as outstanding as expected. Murano was good quality; the service was outstanding. Suchi on five was also excellent but my favourite restaurant (by far) was Tuscan Grille. It's located at the rear of the ship with incredible views. If you can, I recommend getting a round table overlooking the rear of the boat. The food, drinks and service in Tuscan Grille were excellent; you will not be disappointed. Due to how good the boat is and how good the service is onboard, I don't think it matters where you are cruising, a good time is sure to occur.

Everything about the cruise was nice but not spectacular. I've been on others that had more events onboard to do and were much more fun. The dining experience was a big mixup for us.They were good about it, but had a time, about 3 days worth, to get us all at one table. It was quite confusing. I've never been on a ship where it's confusing like this. The food was very good tho, but they could have had a bigger selection too. And having a hard time hearing, their announcements should have been MUCH louder, even WIth hearing aids.

We just returned from a Caribbean cruise to the ABC islands. As usual, the whole experience was great. I am always amazed at the quality of the meals offered to a crowd of 2000 plus. The Equinox still feels current and new. The service is outstanding and the entertainment is first class! There are a couple of things that could be improved: shore excursions and the main dining. We did a snorkeling excursion in Bonaire and it was a disappointment. The main dining room was crowded, tables too closed to each other. They want to group several couples in one large table. Just say no, thank you! Otherwise, the cruise is a great value.
