My husband and I have been on 3 Ocean cruises and this was our 1st river cruise. The ship was beautifully laid out, the food was delicious and the excursions were great. The historian was a wealth of information about Normandy and June 6, 1944. It was an honor to be among the veterans and shake their hands on June 6, 2019 at the American Normandy cemetery. Our room on the ship had ample space for us and our luggage without feeling cramped. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom equipped with modern shower and tile. The rooms are larger on Avalon because they don't give up room space for an outdoor balcony. We had a french balcony with a floor to ceiling glass sliding door. All of the staff on Avalon Tapestry II were most helpful, pleasant and friendly.

We had 2 cabins as there were 3 family members and took the Reflections of the Seine cruise from Paris back to Paris. The cruise director Gayle was so lovely. The entire crew looked after us all so well. Our chef did any amazing job. The excursions were very good - some were optional extras and they were the best ones we thought ie Honfleur and Versailles. Tho Versailles was so crowded our guide Ivan did a terrific job and we saw the private appts as well as the gardens and the staterooms. We weren’t that keen on the guided tour of Le Havre - not sure why it’s on the UNESCO list. Honfleur should be on the Heritage list in our opinion..it’s quaint and we enjoyed wandering around.the old buildings. All the Avalon guides were very good especially Estelle who took our group to the D Day beaches where we had a nice lunch at the Omaha golf course. I was able to slip into the Pro shop! It was such a well organised cruise that we didn’t want to leave.! Thanks Gayle and your Avalon team.

We went with another couple in August 2018. After a beautiful tour of Amsterdam, we started down the river. The boat was beautiful, with only just over 100 people as passengers. The meals were great, the wine reflected the region we were passing. If you are thinking seasickness, try something else. The staff was great, out on shows, lectures and kept us happy between stops. Our rooms were nice with a giant sliding door for views. Highly recommend the Avalon ships and their itinerary.
