What travellers are saying
- DenzieKWellington, New Zealand170 contributionsWe cycled to the start of this walk mid May on a mild sunny day. There are cycle stands to lock your bike to and a large cafe opposite for food and ice creams. Plenty of car parking too. There is a nice wide track to walk along and but just few signs in French. The dunes are undergoing restoration and fenced off but good to see the progress. As you get closer to the beach the track changes to a very wide board walk. Again for dune protection. This provides very pleasant walking conditions. Then it's off the board walk and down a very short sandy hill section and on to the beach. Now it's time to get your shoes off feel the sand on your toes and walk towards the sea for a paddle. Great views towards the famous Dune du Pilat and surrounds. There are plenty of spots to sunbathe and rest or you can walk along the hard sand in both directions. The currents look tricky so once hot enough to swim you would need to be very careful. We saw a few hardy souls cooling off up to their waists.
More signage, perhaps in English too would be helpful and more signage on the walk generally would explain more to those of us interested in conservation. A sign about the concrete bunkers on the beach would be good. We enjoyed the visit and the exercise.Written 23 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A small museum explains the history of this monument.Written 24 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HHessDubai, United Arab Emirates141 contributionsStunning soft sandy beach and crystal blue Atlantic Ocean. We took a ferry from Arrcachon to Cap Ferret and then walked for about 25 min to reach the beach. It is an easy walk but there is also a train that costs 6E that can take you closer. The only challenge is the sandy part that you have to overcome to reach the beach. This part is connecting the concrete road and the beach itself. It is deffinitely NOT for the strollers or people with reduced mobility. Walking in deep sand is beautiful and fun but also quite demanding. Other than that it is a beautiful place to spend your day at, you can do kite surfing or join any other sport activities or just relax and enjoy the ocean.Written 9 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian OAscot, UK97 contributionsFar from the maddening crowd- this pathway by ancient waterways made a pleasant diversion. A snack at the cafe completed the afternoon!Written 29 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The eggs Benedict were really good as was the buratta which was unusual deep fried. Would come again.Written 18 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
