What travellers are saying
- 2dogladyTennessee919 contributionsWe have passed by the Polk house in Columbia, TN for years when visiting family there but never made the time to stop. But we finally did in Feb 2024. We thought it might take a half hour or so but we ended up with an introductory film plus a guided and very informative and interesting tour by Phyllis. We learned so very much about this president. I left the tour feeling like I wanted to read more about him to learn even more. The house and grounds are small but we are glad we finally made the stop. There is also a nice pocket park across the street with some bronze statues of the couple, and the town visitor center is right next to that park.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DevineonePort Stanley, Canada58 contributionsI wasn’t expecting very much. There are so many historic homes to be seen and I have seen some. However, the guided tour we Had provided excellent insight into the way the family lived in this house and some of the idiosyncrasies of the design. Also, the museum behind is excellent. It is well laid out and deserving of more promotion than it seem to get from the website. Although I don’t agree with everything That is espoused about slavery The rest of the exhibit is very well displayed and explained. We were lucky we actually got there because we had great difficulty finding the entrance. It is between two commercial buildings with just a street number on it. We never did see any Obvious visible sign, directing us to the house and museumWritten 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Denise RGreenwood, IN309 contributionsDuring a wedding weekend in Columbia, we were looking for something to do on Saturday afternoon. Family members recommended we visit downtown Columbia and check out some of the cute shops. We ended up at Bleu 32.
Bleu 32 is a wonderful combination of booth spaces with high quality new, vintage, and antique items ranging from quirky household decor to furniture to clothing. I especially appreciated the wide range of items and prices as well as the care vendors have taken to make their booth spaces particularly appealing. In no way does Bleu 32 resemble a flea market or a junk shop.
We made a few very nice purchases and left Columbia feeling as if we had experienced some of the best little shops, including this one.
Definitely worth stopping for a shopping trip.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lenny BOakland, TN552 contributionsThe tour teaches quite a bit about Maury County. This is on the National Historic Register, a place that needs to stay maintained so nothing happens to it.Written 22 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon W2 contributionsWe visited St. Catherine’s during a weekend visit to Spring Hill, and feel so blessed to have had the chance to celebrate Mass there. The pianist and cantor did a wonderful job of leading the congregation in a nice mix of worship songs and traditional hymns. The 10:30 Mass was bursting with life as young families surrounded us. Several of the woman wore veils. We were very happy to have the opportunity to kneel to receive the Eucharist. The large number of young men willing to serve at the altar is encouraging to see, and we’re always glad to visit a parish and hear them recite them prayers to St. Michael at the end of Mass.
Findjng a Catholic Church that is faithful to the teachings of the Church while traveling sometimes can feel like a crapshoot, but we definitely came up the winners this trip.Written 22 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They had 4 house brews on tap and we got to try them all. They were pretty good overall and very affordable for a draft or growler. The guest brews were even better and they have an excellent selection of draft beers and bottles, particularly Belgian brews. They have lots of seating inside and outside and they often have food trucks, which is great since they don't have a kitchen. We were here for the Feathers and Fins food truck, which was excellent overall. It's a fun place to visit and we really liked it!Written 30 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
