I agree with so many of the reviewers - this hike was 5 stars! One of the highlights from my two week European vacation. I did it as a solo female in November and felt safe. The trail was well marked and I ran into people along the way (although it was never crowded). The views were epic. There were a few harder parts but nothing crazy (a few steep hills and rocky areas). I wore comfortable jeans and sturdy sneakers. Tips: wear layers (the temps fluctuated especially when I was exposed to the wind), bring water and snacks, and stop and enjoy the views!

Beautiful view for sunset. We tried 5 different wines each to taste with a selection of bites. We wish we had stayed for dinner. It was an amazing experience and the most relaxing time to watch the beautiful sunset.

I was in Santorini on my own for the first time in july 2019. Not that long after the Covid-19 wave in Europe finally stopped, more or less, thankfully, my partner and myself decided to make a trip to Santorini together. We stayed for 7 nights in Amoudi Bay. This whole trip on Santorini was one of those trips of a lifetime for both of us. Every time i looked at the quite many photos we took, i smiled to myself😘. How could i ever forget, for example, walking the 300 steps, from Amoudi Bay all the way up to Oia?❤ I would recommend Santorini indeed for all travelers who have not yet visited this really beautiful island. But please be aware of the fact that prices here are somewhat more expensive when compared to the Greek mainland or even to Crete island. The price of beauty?✌

We enjoyed the beautiful sunset every evening from our small apartment in Amoudi Bay. What a gorgeous island is Santorini indeed. No wonder so many travelers come here. Whenever i look at the quite many photos we took, i can't help smiling to myself😃. We explored quite a bit during our 7-night stay on Santorini including short day trips to Imerovigli, Fira and Kamari. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!🇬🇷

Easier to reach by public local bus from Fira central bus station and cost euro1.60 one way per pax. Is a small beach area with some restaurants and cafes around.

Great location, and plenty to see and do even in late October. Taverna's still open, mostly , and a lot of shops still open. Some places saying they will be open throughout the winter.
Kamari tours do a tremendous day trip to the volcano, Thirasia, and then sunset in Oia.
I wasn't personally impressed with the Instagram capital of the world, to crowded and extremely boring. Obviously the blue domed and views are something to see.....but that's it. Over priced and over hyped.
Kamari beach area, far better, with lovely people, food, and far more relaxing.

If you are in Santorini and have time, do go. I took the bus from Fira and it was a very pretty ride there and back. The site itself needs about an hour or so. It is Santorini's Pompei. Do watch the video they have. If you have seen many archaeological sites around Greece, it may seem like a repetition. Try to remember how old this is - 4500 hundred years old. 17th century BC. Imagine how advanced that civilization was.
Once finished, walk over to the sign pointing the Red Beach. You have to walk a bit and climb up on the cliff side, then look down to the Red Beach. It is not a beach per se. Very pretty. I believe only boats can get the closest to the beach.

The ruins of Ancient Thera are on top of hill that can be reached by car on a zig zag path. It is pretty close to the airport too. I had gone there early in the morning and there were no other and the drive on the zig zag path was safer.

You can park at the top half of the hill around a circle and then climb up a steep road to the entrance gate. The entry was 3 Euros and from there is a series of steps and rubble path to get you to the top of the hill where the ruins are. Since, I am not in the best of shape, I had to stop several times and catch my breath. I took me 25 minutes to get to the top. It was pretty windy up there.

The sights of the airport, the black beaches and the countryside was amazing. The ruins are also in amazing order. You get to see a whole Garrison town and its plan. There was no one when I was there. You are restricted to paths around the town by ropes. You get to see a lot of structures that constituted perhaps a Roman Garrison and I imagine it was an amazing town in the ancient times. The people of ancient must have been great hikers to live right at the top without automobiles and mechanical devices. Great experience at the site. Go early in the day as it can get hot and difficult to hike. There was no drinking water facilities or toilets as far I can remember.

If you enjoy a walk and brilliant views well worth it. Follow the signs passing all the hotels on the edge of the caldera. Loads of stepsthough.

Location/what is it about: The flooded Caldera and volcanic islands west of Santorini in Greece are awe-inspiring. The easiest way to reach Palia Kamenia (‘Old Burnt Island’) hot springs, Nea Kameni (‘New Burnt Island’) volcano, Thirassia (sleeping crocodile island) is by boat.

Admission fee (budget range): Free to visit.

The Santorini Volcano is a must-visit. A sight to behold. You must experience the sunset here at least once in your life. You can also admire the Caldera Islands from Imerovigli and Fira.

The only suggestion for improvement we have is for Santorini to better highlight the volcano and history behind it. For example, more signs with information about the volcanic rocks or eruptions on the hiking trails from Oia to Fira. We expected that when visiting Santorini everything would revolve around the volcano. However, more emphasis is placed on expensive accommodation, food, drinks (tourist exploitation).
