The visit with elephants and the care the handlers provided for guests and elephants were excellent. The ride out to the elephants was fun and all the safety guidelines all made sense. The visits with elephants was gentle and elephants were a joy to be around. We stayed at the lodge and that aspect seem disorganized even at 3:30 pm we were waiting to get to our room. The restaurant left a lot to be desired. Staff there seemed disinterested and service reflected this. Our breakfast came piecemeal with our juices showing up when we were finished. There were only two other couples.

A beautiful walk to see the serene beauty of Knysna. There's great security at the parking lot too. Video cameras and parking attendant. Make sure to give the parking attendant a tip :)

This was our second time at the Featherbed nature reserve, the first was many years ago.
Colin, our guide, was excellent, very knowledgeable, funny and attentive. Towards the end of the hike down to sea level I become sick, felt dizzy and couldn’t move. Colin was very helpful, very attentive and patient. He arranged for ATV to come and take me back to the boat for the last leg of the walk, he almost carried me down the path to the bike, very patient and helpful. I am so thankful for all his help and encouragement. Thank you, Colin, from the bottom of my heart!

A greta collection of local producers offering an amazing array of local produce, fruits and veggies and local cheeses and preperations much as jams and chutneys, plus fresh food to consume on the spot, including fresh Oysters. A great experience.

This place is certainly worth the detour from the N2 of about 10km.
Really nice, long sandy beach & decent surf. Not much else to see but worth the drive.

The Knysna Lagoon is really spectacular with an abundance of wildlife to be seen on the sand banks when the tide goes out. Great place for a walk.

The beach and braai areas are beautiful, with stunning views of the ocean - but only for the able-bodied. Wheelchairs were not considered in the redevelopment and can no longer access / navigate from the boat launching side (esp if a boat is parked alongside) There are no ramps from the curbs either

After following these guys on instagram. I had been wanting to visit here and it didn’t disappoint. Loved the set up, layout and vibe.
Tried the three gin tasing and a couple of cocktails which were all great.
Would of loved to visit in an evening with a live band on bet the place is buzzing.

Also like how they promote the bakery next door for their pizzas.

    100% have to visit here!

Beautiful and such untouched beauty 🤩 make sure you go when it’s low tide as the sea can get rough with high tide.

Very informative people who run the museum made this visit even more interesting. Great selection of bikes to look around. Glad we made the trip to Thesen island.

The road from Knysna to Avontuur was marked on our map as paved but it turned out after a few kilometers that was not true. We pressed forward anyway - driving an SUV. The pass itself offered some nice views over the mountain ranges but nothing spectacular. But when we arrived Die Vlug the amazing experience started - beautiful rock formations in deep canyons made the long and stressful drive just a memory. If you want to see that part only you would have to drive from Knysna to George and the highways N12, N9 and finally R62 to Avontuur. From there the dirt road to Prince Alfred Pass is the best part of that mountain crossing. Don't drive up to the Pass it's not worth it.
