Patriarchal cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Sofia. Church monument of Saint Alexander Nevsky. It was built in 1908 and dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky and the Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 in honor of the liberation from the Turks after which Bulgaria gained statehood from the Ottoman Empire, but not full independenceWritten 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only thing I could never get over was all the enclosed boxes for restaurants that were filled with people smoking, avoided them at all costs. To avoid this I just kept to the actual indoor restaurants.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adventure DivaManchester, CT2 167 contributionsAfter exploring the great city of Sofia, I needed to be outside in nature. Twenty minutes by car later, I enjoyed walking at the base. An extra plus was visiting during Spring where everything was lush and vibrant. My escape was a nice break from the capital.Written 6 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- dgjohanssonRonneby, Sweden1 602 contributionsThis little church is hidden away behind the presidential palace and is easy to walk by when you are in the area. Good for a few minutes to look at mainly because of the strange settingWritten 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Росица А1 contributionVery fun and nice place. Girls and boys from the staff make the experience even more complete. I prefer the guests of the city not to pass by, in a convenient location, different experience and cute young people for splendor!Written 6 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dgjohanssonRonneby, Sweden1 602 contributionsIt is a very small building with an even smaller area of interest. Maximum 10 persons at the time are allowed and there is a no photo policy inside. IT is still a very nice visit just to be able to see this very, very old frescoes. This place was inscibed already 1979 which make it one of the oldest World Heritage Sites proclaimed.Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Church of Saint Nedjelja dates back to the 10th century, and was the city's cathedral from the 18th century. - CATTSARProvincetown, MA22 298 contributionsFounded in 1904 and opening in 1907, this is the oldest and most respected theater in Bulgaria. It is located in the city center and across from City Garden. Unfortunately, I did not get to see any of the performances or even get inside. However, the grounds are impressive and there are several billboards advertising the performances, the building, done in Neo Classical style, itself is worth viewing. This is an easy and convenient stop on the way to City Garden.Written 3 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Onur YıldızSofia, Bulgaria16 contributionsI’ve visited by myself but it could be with the family as well. You can see lots of artifacts of Bulgarian history not only pre historical times, medieval ext. I didn’t see many things about ottoman time and communist time.
